From our President Nichol Sandoe comes word of an item in the Times reporting the death of Ax Warden in Palm Springs, Calif. He had been in poor health for some time. Nevertheless we are sad to hear this. He was one of our most important classmates as an undergraduate and throughout his whole life — the outstanding publisher in the Northwest and of great service in many ways to his country, his state, and his community. Nick also says he has been off to California to celebrate his son's (young Nick's) 50th birthday. He says having a 50th anniversary ago was all right, but having a son age 50 made him really feel old. To make it worse, on March 8th, he celebrated the 50th anniversary of law practice in New York City.

Brace yourselves. Promptly on the Ides of March comes a preliminary word from NockWallis to his Alumni Fund Agents. They prepare to come after you. Help all you can, will you? And from George Rand on the East Coast of Florida, "Things have, been buzzing around here lately." And then he told of Rock Hayes, Jock Murray,Chet DeMond, King Cole, and Pete Pitman going with him, George, to West Palm Beach for lunch with the Dartmouth Club. Professor Harold Bond brought them up to date on the Dartmouth Plan, the Institute, year-around operation etc. ... "19 had the largest representation of any class." There, they met Barney Thielcher '17. He said too that Mose and Florence Robinson (Mose suffering from a sunburn acquired on the golf course) had been with them for lunch. The DeMonds and the Robinsons were heading north about March 1, but the Murrays planned to be in Boca Rotan for several weeks.

Spider and Bea Martin, we think, have been in Scotsdale, Ariz., for about two months today. During that period we have had no word from Spider - perhaps, for us, a new record of silence. Also in Arizona, Fanny Ames has been vacationing, as usual, at her favorite ranch. Unfortunately, a bee stung her horse which threw her onto some rocks. She suffered a broken hip and other damages. We hear she is recovering bravely if uncomfortably and our best wishes wing their way west to her.

Our sister tells of seeing Bunny and Mad Collins in Sarasota and that they are in fine shape.

And, delight of delights, lovely Kitty Larmon has been to see us for an all-to-short visit. With characteristic gusto, she drove her new red Saab all the way to Florida in practically no time. She left here for the West Coast to visit her sister and see Gertrude Daley. She then plans to hie herself across Alligator Alley to the wild and wooly East Coast to visit Stu and Jane Russell and see all that gang.

She had some lovely clippings, sent by a nephew, about Cotty's young days — tennis and other triumphs. We quote from one, under the heading "Lieutenant Adjutant Russell and Miss Marion Weller to lead Grand March." It says in part, "The high school military hop, considered the crowning social event of the high school, will be given tonight ... the commissioned officers, who are giving the dance, will wear their full dress regimental uniforms ... the Grand March will be led by Lieutenant Adjutant Russell Larmon and Miss Marion Weller."

We quote this of the several clippings hoping it will bring to your minds the delightful picture', brings to ours. Confronted with it he would first put on the abashed embarrassment act. The "oh. it was nothing, I was just lucky" stuff. Needled a little further, would come indignant and more earnest pronouncements about how important was his post, how dashing the figure he cut with Miss What-was-her-name? We can see him now
