Paul Ehrlich has joined the Thomas J. Deegan Company. Inc., as executive vice president. The company's offices are in New York. Paul spent seven years with the Interpublic Group as a senior executive with responsibilities in all areas of communications. He also Worked with Thomas Deegan, his new boss during the New York World's Fair in 1964-65. Most recently Paul has been a partner and officer of Devon Securities and an executive with Ladenburg, Thalmann Co., Inc., where he Was involved with the total range of corporate finance activities. Paul is also presently servingas vice president of Weis Securities, Inc., and will coordinate activities with his new company, utilizing the national network of offices, research departments and corporate finance staff of Weis Securities where they serve Deegan clients.

Pacific Intermountain Capital, Inc., a new financial investment company with offices in Sun Valley. Idaho, has been incorporated to provide financial services and investment counseling. Two of the three founding principals are DickShanaman, president, and Jim Dalton, secretary-treasurer. According to Dick, the new company is offering its services to corporations as well as to individuals within the 10-state intermountain region.

"The corporation," Dick reports, "plans to make equity capital available to companies that have superior growth prospects, either by a limited partnership or private placements."

Dick was vice president in charge of corporate finance and venture capital activities with the San Francisco office of F.S. Smithers & Company, Inc., a New York investment banking company. Prior to that, he was a vice president of the Bank of California in San Francisco. Dick graduated from the Graduate School of Credit and Financial Management at Stanford. Jim's background is in investment counseling and banking. Before moving to Sun Valley, he was managing partner of Dalton Associates of Palo Alto. He also spent six years with White Weld & Company in San Francisco. He holds an MBA from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University.

Dan Searby has been appointed by the Department of State to the post of Deputy Assistant Secretary for Commercial Affairs and Business Activities. Holding an M.S. from Columbia Business School, Dan worked in brand management for Procter and Gamble both domestically and abroad. He joined Overseas Private Investment Corporation (a U.S. Government agency) in 1970 and, during the 1972 presidential campaign, worked on the White House staff. He and wife Joan are the parents of three sons.

Dr. James White has been promoted to Professor at Keuka College in Keuka Park, N.Y. Jim earned his Ph.D. in Philosophy from Rutgers University. He taught at Rutgers and at Parsons College in lowa before moving to Keuka College in 1962. Jim is the author of An Index of theRange of Activity, an article published in the American Midland Naturalist. He has received two CCFL grants, one for The Ecology andBehavior of Shrews and the other for The LocalDistribution and Population Dynamics ofWolffia. Jim is chairman of the Biology Department at Keuka College.
