I am grateful to the alumnus who mailed me a newspaper article reporting that The Amoskeag National Bank and Trust Co., Manchester, N.H.. has named John Perley senior vice president in January. John left Chemical Bank in New York City and joined his present bank in 1969 as a V.P. in the commercial division. He later became responsible for branch administration-business development, and marketing, and in 1973 assumed additional duties as senior lending officer. Involvement in a number of banKing cultural and civic activities including the presidency of a group . within the New Hampshire Bankers Association, and a directorship of the Downtown Manchester Association round out John's accomplishments.
I bumped into Moose Morton in February at a New York City Dartmouth Club Affair held the Yale Club, which was run by Skeff McAlhster, the club's president. It appears that Moose's responsibilities at Mitchell Hutchins & Co., a New York brokerage firm, are treating him well and Skeff seems to have survived the club's recent association with Yale quite well. The evening's program which featured Seaver Peters, director of athletics and head football coach Jake Crouthamel, as well as filmed highlights of the 1973 championship season, was very well attended, and no doubt due to Skeff's efforts.
Gentlemen geologist and fellow rocks major Sam Adams penned the following "Greetings and Happy New Year. The family and I returned this week following seven months tem- porary assignment in Perth, West Australia, and a month return triP thru Europe. We will be in Salt Lake until summer when we plan to transfer to Denver. I am, as of the first of the year, vice president-geology for the Uranium Division of the Anaconda Co. We continue to spend as much time as possible on skiis or backpacking - the children (3) have all taken to it. Nancy has completed a practical nursing degree which she hopes to use if we stay in one place long enough. Hope this finds you well and with a full tank of gas!"
A notice received from Lloyd Relin announced the merger of Lloyd's Rochester, N.Y., law partnership with two other local firms to form Fix, Spindelman, Relin, LoMonoco, Turk and, Himelein as of January 1.
It took a ten-dollar bribe, although GoodyGilman would call it a legitimate donation, to extract the following: "As you know, after Dartmouth, I returned to Newport and started an electrical wholesale distribution business. This has proved successful (I guess) and consequently I still enjoy living here. Married Sheila Mac Donald from Marblehead, Mass. and have three children - Gayle (11), Andrew (9), and Matthew (4). Recently purchased a Condominum on Moosehead Lake/Squaw Mt. Area - Matthew was first skiing casualty as he broke his leg the second time out! If any classmates want to come to me, I'll make the Condo available! Go to Harvard Dartmouth game each year in Boston - always go with Scott Booma and wife. Carl Schulz and family were in Bar Harbor this past summer and we spent weekend with them. Hopefully will make Reunion."
And speaking of Reunion, president ButchPriest has confided that Celooz has been very busy conducting extensive research in order to select suitable reunion entertainment. Butch assures me that Celooz has everything under complete control and that we can count on a memorable weekend with attendance expected to be good based on response to date. The reunion committee would appreciate hearing as soon as possible whether you plan to attend in order to plan the reunion activities.
This month marks the beginning of the 1974 Alumni Fund and the first time 1959 will be involved in the Reunion Giving Program about which Head Agent Dick Hoehn has already written. As we will hear more about the program from Dick and Randy Malin, our Reunion Giving Chairman in due course, I won't dwell on this year's fund drive other than to reiterate Dick's request to place Dartmouth at the top of your charitable giving list this year and begin now to consider the amount you can give or pledge.
