The collective "we" hope that your summer was restful and enjoyable. With luck and plenty of input from "our" fellow '69s, this year's column will set informational records. We are off to a fairly decent start.
John Talmadge, M. D., writes from Durham, N.C., that he is completing his final year of residency training in family psychiatry. John had previously spent two years in Madison, Wis., in residency after graduating from Duke Medical school in 1973. Dr. Talmadge works principally with families in crisis with a touch of organizational and group consulting and individual psychotherapy.
John relates that Chris Stillbach has just completed a book, Why She Hailed a Taxi, which was written in Chris' spare time while he helped his father's electronics firm prosper. John has reviewed the book and declares it a "really fun book - a bit of Kurt Vonnegut's influence is evident."
John Laird, John Talmadge also reports, is still hung up on Hanover (he is not alone). Mr. Laird is a trout farmer there. He has built a dam across Mink Brook and is developing "a superior trout which will literally murder a dry fly-"
Guy Ryder has joined Alexander Haig's staff at NATO, where his dad once labored. Guy writes: "after thinking about graduate school for a while, I decided to marry a Swiss lady and settle down in a challenging job."
John also reports that Warren Strittmatter and his wife have twin girls and that Al Petersen is still giving swimming lessons at the Y.W.C.A. in New Haven. Al swears that women are superior in water.
Andy McLane dropped the collective "us" a note to update his essentials. Andy and wife Nancy had their second son Justin who was born in April. Benjamin, number one son, is two and a half. The whole troop moved from Watertown to Concord, Mass., in time for the Bicentennial celebration. "The rest is the same," Andy writes, "commute to Boston to do commercial lending at the State Street Bank & Trust Company."
By the time you read this, Nick North will probably have married Susan Keeler, a graduate of Sullins College in Bristol, Va., and presently an executive secretary for the Buckfield Corp. in Stamford, Conn. Nick, as you may have already heard, snatched an M.B.A. from the Tuck School and is currently employed by the AMF Corporation, Ben Hogan Division, in Fort Worth, Texas.
Jim Magyar has been appointed an assistant professor of Chemistry at Hamilton College. After Dartmouth (A.D.), Jim earned a Ph.D. at Northwestern, where he was given an NDEA Traineeship and University Fellowship. Jim is affiliated with the American Chemical Society, Organic Division, and two national scientific honor societies and has had several articles and reviews published.
Th-th-th-th-th that's all folks!
