Crisp and vivid memories linger on from our fall reunion in Hanover, October 17-19, which included our class executive committee meeting on Friday afternoon, the muddy Brown game the following day (where we were fit to be tied because of the bad weather) and fun and fellowship in between- at the Jordan's for a pre-game brunch, at the DOC House for cocktails and dinner, and in the rumpus room of the Shady Lawn Motel in White River Junction where we "old goats," our ageless wives, and assorted offspring, had rented almost all the rooms. How can I describe the weekend to classmates who have never been there, except in terms of people?

The drive north from Reading on Friday morning was pleasant because the weekend syndrome of rain hadn't yet manifested itself, but it was nice to see Allon and Shorty Pierce, Barband Ted White with their two girls, and Shirleyand Joe Michael when we checked into the motel.

Nineteen classmates attended the executive committee meeting ably chaired by FrankHutchins. Steve Hull, newly appointed reunion chairman for our 35th Reunion, is already making plans for that big event. If you wish to help him out, his address is 37 Harvard Street, Worcester, Mass. 01608. More immediate help is needed by John Leggat, class head agent for the Alumni Fund (if you want to send your gift to the College before the end of the year) and by John Osborn, our new treasurer, who is still looking for class dues that may have slipped under the couch in your living room, or out of your mind for the time being. Please give him a little support in the form of a $12.50 check payable to Dartmouth 1945 (and send him some news of yourself when you do!)

We had breakfast with Jean and Bob Lee and later, at the home of Betty and Cliff Jordan where the pre-game brunch was served, we saw Doris and Ed Pirie, Jane and Tom Yates, Elaineand Jim Andrew, Joan and Moose Rowan,Marge and Bob Paulson, and Jane and MoeFrye who has just been appointed regional director for New England by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. No doubt his superb job as 30th Reunion Chairman called him to their attention!

At the football game I saw Frank Edmands,Mary and Stan Newton, Ann and Irv Graves and Molly and John White and during cocktails at the DOC House I chatted with Sam Cutler andGert who had just returned from a visit to England and was still feeling the effects of jet lag, Felicia Ann and Ed Bundy, Marie and RayFontana, and Connie and Spence Johnson. Their daughter Martha, Class of 1976, is on the Dartmouth rowing team which had won a meet that day, and she joined us for a triumphant dinner.

A group of us that gathered in the rumpus room of the Shady Lawn Motel that evening included Shirley and Austin Wason; Ginny, Marcy, Pam and Supreme Imperial Old Goat HarryHampton (without whom this whole affair would not have worked), Vesta and Vic Smith who invited everyone to Sunday breakfast at the second home they had just bought (complete with breakfast) in Haverhill, N.H., just 35 miles north of Hanover, and Amy and Tom Maver who combined business with pleasure to come east from Arlington Heights, Ill., for the reunion and a visit to her mother in Boltonville, Vt.

Those of us who didn't journey to Haverhill on Sunday morning, ate a desultory breakfast elsewhere and then set off on the return trip home filled with good memories of solid achievements at the class meeting, renewing old friendships, and forming new ones. Next year the reunion will be the weekend of October 30, 1976 and the football team will be playing Columbia. Mark it on your calendar now and plan to come. Every classmate is invited to the class meeting and every other member of our 1945 family is welcome to partake of the fulness of fun and fellowship in the fall, including Jean Hutchins (running for elective office in her home town), Ruth, Tod and BruceLeggat, Jean Hull and Marylee Osborn, all of whom participated in the activities of the weekend even though they didn't attend the class executive committee meeting.
