By now I hope you are over facing grim 1975 with the proper courage and that things are going better than you had reason to expect. For our part, we have a sack full of mail, most of which recounts the doings of 1974. We are anxious to close our books - so we shall start with the news of our neighbor Archie Mallon who resigned as headmaster of Lyndon Institute, Lyndon Center, Vt., in the fall of 1973. He returned to his home town in Chatham, N.Y., where he was appointed principal of the Chatham Middle School this fall. He has close to 700 students in grades 5-8, and cites his days are busy, but happy.

Herb and Elaine Stine were back for fall reunion, but just barely. Herb took a plane out of Lebanon on Thursday afternoon for an un- scheduled trip to Kentucky. But the Stines are not unfamiliar with Hanover, frequently weekending on the Hanover Plain with their daughter Susan '76.

The Bob Sullivan's write of their children, Marcy in her last year at Indiana U. Law School, and Jay, graduated from Yale last spring. "After teaching sailing at the Chicago Yacht Club this last summer, he was off to Nice, Florence, and who knows where else, to see if he can make it as an artist and/or sculptor."

Our good treasurer, Cornie Miller, who is still harvesting class dues, reports that Phil Sanborn, "multi-millionaire picture framing accessory mogul" had a bout in the hospital after "internal eruptions." Anyone caring to write can reach him at 9 Hazelton Road, Barrington, R.I., 02806.

The famous daughter of Georgie and ShirleyHanna, who recently received national coverage in New Hampshire political convention circles, has just become the youngest elected New Hampshire legislator after a spirited campaign in the last fall elections.

Dot and Hank Conkle spent the latter part of November relaxing at the Pink Beach Club in Bermuda where they happily ran into Endicottand Georgette Smith - in the bar, of all places.

Jim and Doris Corner had an August trip to California to attend son Donald's wedding and a return through the Rocky Mountains which apparently left a definite impression on both. Their daughter Carol works for Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn.

Jim Garnett sent along some fine color pictures, snapped at the summer reunion, which will, in time, undoubtedly flesh out the pages of Walt Darby's " '39 out!" Jim reports that he sees Sam Lawton frequently. Sam has just finished a job heading up the State of Illinois Environmental Committee in 1974. Prior to that, Sam was the Mayor of Highland Park. Jim also reports seeing Bud Adler, happily retired from the Presidency of Helene Curtis; Bud Stein, a successful surgeon in the Chicago area; Bobby Alpert; Bob Sullivan (see above) and Key Blatchford. Jim also reports his son John '72, is finishing his first semester at Rush Medical School and that daughter Ann is learning his business, working on her Masters in landscape design at the University of Mass.
