These notes might well be labeled our Florida edition since they are largely about residents and visitors to that state. A quick count of our up-dated class directory shows 65 residents - a 225 percent increase in seven years.

Mary and I came down on the Auto Train, a pleasant way to avoid a long drive. While in Naples we just missed Marion and George Davis who had returned to Glens Falls, N. Y., after six weeks there playing golf and tennis. In a note received before we left Troy, George mentioned that he planned to attend a meeting of the Dartmouth Club of Naples on February 11.

Coming up the coast we stopped on Sanibel Island at Barbara and John Lawrence's home for a pleasant visit with them and their next door neighbors, Reliance and Rem Kinne, and Fidelia Turner who had rented a condominium nearby. Fidelia seemed interested in buying a home there since she had just sold her home in Tomkins Cove, N. Y. We missed seeing Gertrude Heep, who has a place on the island, because she was away. The Lawrences and Kinnes have beautiful collections of shells for which Sanibel Island is famous.

If you visit Sanibel Island contact JohnLawrence at Periwinkle Way Park and see if he will let you have some of his famous deviled crabs. As a diversion and something to do besides gardfrtipg, John puts out and tends a few crab pots. He and Barbara make deviled crab of some of his catch and pass them out to their friends. We can testify that they are a gourmet's delight.

Our next stop was in Sarasota where we are enjoying four days with Eleanor and GeorgeKlein in their lovely home. Tomorrow night Billee and Don Solis are coming over for dinner. Don is doing a bang-up job as president of the Dartmouth Club of Sarasota and George is also an officer of the club.

Before we left home on our short vacation, Bruce Lewis the former mayor of Palm Beach Shores sent us a ffull report on a very successful '28 dinner he arranged with help from ErnieWright, Al Fusonie, Gene Magenis, and JoeSmith. Eleven '28ers and their wives gathered on March 1 at the Bayou Restaurant in Boca Raton: Agnes and George Boughton and Claireand Brougham Wallace of Delray Beach; Jeanand Ernie Wright, Boca Raton; Connie and AlFusonie, Pompano Beach; Isabel and ClintGoodwin, Fort Lauderdale; Ethna and CrawPollock, Deerfield Beach; Thelma and BruceLewis, Palm Beach Shores; Helen and JohnnyO'Sullivan, Summit, N. J.; Ruth and Joe Smith, Sanbornville, N. H. (wintering in West Palm Beach); Frances and Gene Magenis, Coral Gables; and Barbara and John Lawrence, Sanibel Island. Alma and Roger Sundeen and Mary and Chris Norman made reservations but had to cancel at the last minute due to illness. Mai Beal, Gaylord Fauntleroy, and Warren Burding couldn't make it due to house guests.

It was decided at the dinner that another gathering should be held next year at the same approximate time and location. Advance notice will be given in this column and in the '28 Campaigner which will increase the attendance by giving visitors and residents more time to include the mini reunion in their plans.

Ethel and John Nixon took a Caribbean cruise in February and later spent two weeks in Green Valley, Arizona, while Fran and Jack Kenerson were there.

Creighton Hart is happy over the fact that his oldest granddaughter received early acceptance a few months ago for next year's freshman class at Dartmouth. As far as we know, she will be the first '28 granddaughter to be accepted.

The big international stamp show will be in Philadelphia the first week in June and Creighton's main exhibit will be an in depth study of his speciality, the first U. S. issue (1847). Classmates near Philadelphia who are not stamp collectors might be interested in his exhibit which will also include letters as well as franks of our presidents and presidential widows from the Washingtons to the present time, plus franks of the Signers. Seven '28ers besides Creighton listed stamp collecting as a hobby in the last directory: Ace Anthony, Art Hassell, AlLangenus, Dave Menard, Ruf Munsell, DickSullivan, and Harv Fisher.

By June Creighton will be 100 per cent retired from his own finance business in Kansas City and able to devote more time to philately and to helping his wife on buying trips to Europe twice a year for her antique shop. After their sons were grown Virginia and a friend started a small venture in antiques. Creighton says "The friend has fallen by the wayside and Virginia 'has a bear by the tail' so to speak. Trips to Europe with a purpose and seeing the commercial side of life there are great experiences."

Don't forget the fall reunion this year will be September 17-18 at the Norwich Inn - the weekend of the Penn. game.
