Last year when the Alumni Fund reached four and a half million dollars, the 12 reunion classes gave over two million dollars! An amazing feat. This year we are one of the reunion classes, and if we are going to come close to any kind of realistic goal we must stop for a moment and think hard about raising ourselves up from the $50,000 level. . . which was OK for a second place in last year's Green Derby . . . but far from the $220,000 raised by last year's 35th reunion class! $220,000? Yes, I said $220,000! And that Class never came close to our giving performance over the years. But, they took a moment and gave a hard thought to what they could do if they set their mind to it . . . and they did it! Some of their large gifts came from men who had given zero the year before, and the top five gifts (which totalled $98,061) came from men whose five gifts the previous year had totalled $4,073!

They did it! We can do it! Take a look at the record of that 35th reunion class. The adjoining table ranks the top gifts by size, and to the right of each shows what the same person had given (if anything) the year prior to the reunion.

These 80 gifts (23 per cent of the total) comprise $187,416 (85 per cent) of the $220,098 raised by the Class. These same individuals gave $22,475 in the year before their 35th reunion.

You must admit this is an exciting performance. Let us get excited and do even better.
