Kev Fay writes from Santa Barbara, Cal., to Bert MacMannis, "I am still an active Dartmouth alumnus, and I frequently see Howie Nopper, Harry Edmundson, and Harry Kursey. I screen freshman class applicants and was a member of the Dartmouth Club of Santa Barbara when it was active." Kev, as reported recently in this column, is an M.D. and has apparently bounded back nicely from a heart attack some few months ago.

In the end of March we had a good letter from George McIlroy. His latest move provoked some comments about an area that most of us Knew about vaguely while on the Hanover plain, We thought it revealing. "Pat and I have moved up to Quechee Lakes, Vt., which is about halfway between Dartmouth and Woodstock. Most of us probably have only heard of Quechee as the site of the famous gorge which you pass over on Route 4 on the way to Woodstock. However, Quechee was a flourishing New gland mill town during the '30s. When the mills migrated south to a cheaper labor area, Quechee literally became a ghost town. In 1969 the Quechee Lakes Corporation bought up this whole valley and surrounding hillsides - about 6,000 acres in all - and developed what has to be truly the most beautiful recreational community in the country. We have two 18-hole championship golf courses, a two-million-dollar clubhouse with indoor pool, squash courts, etc., an outside pool, tennis courts, and fishing in the Ottaquechee River which flows through the valley. About 40 Dartmouth men are land-owners. Al Abbott is the only other one from our class." In fairness to all, we must state that George is not only a resident, but sells real estate for the Charles T. Jameson Agency. We shall leave it to you, dear reader, to temper his words as you see fit. His address, in case George has whet the appetite, is P.O. Box 414, Quechee, Vt. 05059. He invites a visit from any classmates who might wish to be hustled on one of those two golf courses. Just call 802/295-2928.

May you all be blessed with a lovely spring, and may I with a full news bag for June's upcoming column.
