It is my wife's theory, established through empirical evidence, that it always rains on a football weekend in Hanover. But the weather notwithstanding, we did have an enjoyable weekend for Dartmouth Night and the Yale game. There were a lot of classmates present (a couple we hadn't seen for a while), lots of offspring, and some old friends from other classes we hadn't seen .in years.

Dartmouth won the .game in great fashion with a 43-yard field goal that bounced off both the upright and the crossbar and then fell good; and one fine scoring drive for a touchdown engineered by Buddy Teevens whose father we all know.

After the game a good group of us had a sumptuous repast in New London. Present for the feasting were: Jack and Dodie Boyle, Dick and Lynn Brown, Jack and Diane Creamer, Rog and Harriet Steinharter, Bill and Judy Breed, John and Kay McCrillis, Steve and Lorraine Parkhurst, Jay and Edith Anderson, Kirk and Janet Spurr, Howie and Mary Carter, Dave and Judie Drexler, Bill Montgomery, and we Blakemores!

Rumored to have been seen around the fieldhouse before, after, and during the game were Joe Keener, Jim Binder, Harry Goldsmith, Ross Daniels, Paul Sanderson, Jon Walton, Tony Quimby, Gene Teevens, Lloyd Fisher, Dick Meyers, Frank Logan, and probably some others I can't recall at this moment. (Sorry if I missed any of you.)

Weekends in Hanover are, for me, a renewing process. You ought to try to make it up there frequently if possible.

From Colorado comes news that Dave Sunderland is running for a seat on the University of Colorado Board of Regents. Dave lives in Colorado Springs where he's president of the Gates Land Company. He had three other opponents at the time of my news clipping, and by now he may even be elected. I'll try to give you the outcome next month.

In Boston, New England Telephone and Telegraph has been restructured into four organizational segments and has named JohnNorth executive vice president to handle all four. Jack had been operations vice president. This is getting monotonous, Jack.

A little further west in Massachusetts (Holyoke, that is), Dick Bressler has been elected to the board of Scott Paper Company. If you follow this column you should know that Dick is a senior vice president of Atlantic Richfield and president of its ARCO chemical division.

In Philadelphia, the Insurance Company of North America has named Charlie Tremblay assistant vice president and controller. Charlie was previously associated with Peerless Insurance Company and also served as secretarytreasurer of NEMA Budget Plan Inc.

We have some news from Allentown, Pa, too. And it comes by way of New Haven. The Connecticut Club of Cedar Crest College (in Allentown) had a brunch there for Gene Cesari and his wife because on July 1 Gene became president of Cedar Crest! For the previous 16 years, Gene had been at Elmira College in New York state. There he was a professor, then assistant dean, then dean of special studies and director of development. Good news, Gene!

Finally, Buzz Barton has been talking again. My clippings show me that Robert A: Barton, Esq. (it took me a while to figure that was Buzz), was the guest speaker at the opening monthly breakfast meeting of the season at Ocean Lodge, B'nai B'rith, in Winthrop, Mass. His subject was criminal law. A worthy subject for anyone who spent his formative years in Hanover and who is now adjunct professor of criminal law at New England School of Law.

So write if you get work, but you don't need to hang by your thumbs.
