Foggy mornings, nippy days, a new freshman class, foliage, and football — fall is here! Remember the October 26 and 27 minireunion. Last year's participants dined in Woodstock, Vt., with plenty to cheer about after Dartmouth's victory over Yale on the way to the Ivy League title. It was a great gettogether on a super weekend.
Donald R. Spalding has communicated his intention to come to the mini-reunion on the 26th and 27th, and he states that, if he makes it, this will be the first reunion he's attended since graduation. You've missed some great times, Don, but there'll be many more over the years to come. Don also advised class Alumni Fund Chair Chuck Winslow that he was tempted not to contribute to the Alumni Fund (he did, however) because of the latest "Indian" incident at Dartmouth. "Like so many alumni, I am getting sick of the heavy-handed, intolerant attitude of the College towards anything or anyone that offends the sensibilities of some militant minority. When one considers the earlier incidents, such as the treatment accorded Dr. Shockley and George Wallace, one gets the definite impression that a double standard prevails at Dartmouth regarding freedom of expression." This point of view may well represent the majority of our class. What do others think?
Robert K. Sproull expressed a somewhat similar viewpoint in his annual message to Chuck Winslow in which he states that he trusts his contribution will "help Women at Dartmouth maintain its strident pace, give the gay community at Dartmouth a helping hand, and take an Indian to lunch!" Bob corresponded from his home in Aspen, Colo., where he has operated a most colorful and successful restaurant, pub, and night spot for several years.
George W. Johnston was recently elected to the position of vice president of Parker, Eldridge, Sholl & Gordon Inc., management consultants and executive search specialists. George joined Parker Eldridge in March 1976 after nearly ten years with Price Waterhouse & Company in New York City and Boston.

Dick Newkirk spotted Russ Barry in a photograph of the stars of the C.B.S. series, M*A*S*H, celebrating the beginning of the show's eighth year on the tube. Russ is an executive of 20th Century-Fox. The cups used for the toasting, incidentally, were mini-bedpans. The photograph appeared in the Detroit FreePress. Dick wonders if Russ has maintained his skill at poker.
