The Ampex Corporation of Redwood City, Calif., has appointed Jay A. Clark as director of public relations. Jay and family are residing in Palo Alto. His varied career in journalism and public relations has included service with the National Alliance of Business in Washington, D.C., as vice president, public affairs. During that tour, two public service television announcements produced under his direction won Clio and Public Relations Society of American Film Festival Awards in 1975, and Jay received a presidential citation from Gerald Ford. Before joining Ampex, Jay was manager of media relations at Rockwell International in Pittsburg.
Paul Stewart, author of The SportsIllustrated Book of Judo, has been named director of the marketing department of Time-Life Books. Paul has been with the Time Inc. organization for 18 years. Since Time-Life Books was incorporated, he has been secretary and a member of the board of directors. The Stewart family lives in Alexandria, Va.
Joining the trend of southern relocations, John Kavanagh has taken a position in North Carolina as director of international operations for Edward Week and Company, which deals in surgical instruments and operating microscopes. When last seen, John was still gloating over having taken two sets of mixed doubles from the John Whiteleys at reunion.
