Fred Stephens has been appointed general manager of Jafra International. It is part of the Diversified Companies Group of the Gillette Company and is composed of Jafra companies in Austria, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Holland, Italy, and the United Kingdom. Consultants representing these companies sell a line of high-quality cosmetics at skin care classes held in consumers' homes. Fred will also be responsible for the operations of the Felicitas organizations in Austria and Holland which provide community services for engaged couples. This is another stepping-stone for Fred who has gone onward and upward since joining the safety razor division as a salesman in 1958. For the past three years he has been president of Gillette, Canada, headquartered in Montreal. Now Fred and Thelma are returning to their native Boston.
Stu Struever is closing the original Koster excavation at the end of this summer. They will continue to maintain their headquarters at Kampsville, Ill., and begin to explore other important sites nearby. The Koster site has been under exploration since 1969. The results have done much to shed light on how much has progressed during the past 9,000 years.
John Amerman has been named president of American Chicle. This $568-million company is a division of Warner-Lambert. Previously, he was vice president of marketing. A corporate strategy might be to have some Entenmann's pastry, rinse your mouth with Listerine, and then chew some chicklets.
Early in February, Bill Friedman was married to the former Lynne Rosen. Bill is in the commercial real estate business in NYC.
