One of the many ideas which our former President John G. Kemeny set forth was this one:"As society's issues and problems grow increasingly complex, so do the challenges grow for higher education's reaction. And if there can be a single level upon which these challenges can be met, it must be with the tools and resources of a liberal arts background. Because it is terribly difficult to accurately predict what major problems will be facing today's students in 25 years, liberal arts appears to be the only avenue capable of preparing young men and women for that future. Dartmouth must turn out people who, in one person, can combine the breadth and depth of a wide range of ideas and skills. Dartmouth must also produce leaders who know how to learn, assimilate, and, most importantly, ask the right questions."

This idea is already being helped to accomplishment by the new Rockefeller Center for Social Sciences and the new Hood Arts Center. We have had for some time the beautifullyequipped Natural Science Buildings and the expansive Medical School and Mary Hitchcock Hospital. The Tuck School of Business Administration has already produced great results. The Rockefeller Center is now under actual construction and will offer much better facilities for classrooms, conferences, and lectures. The Hood Arts Center is still in the planning stage, but will allow for great expansion for art, drama, music, and galleries.

It would seem that the College should be soon ready to fulfill its proud destiny of an all-around educational institution of the highest quality. Now for finding the best students to take advantage of this great opportunity.

The cards to give a prospect for attendance at our 65th reunion on June 11-13, 1982, were mailed in the last "Sentry" in early August. About 25. have been returned, which means that many more ought to be back to help in our planning. We realize that at our age there is a question of health and plans may have to be changed, but do let us know the possibilities; 1917 must still be counted as "present."
