If you people weren't changing jobs, going back to school, or getting married, you would be totally worthless copy. Furthermore, those of you who are doing these things (only Sami Fam is not doing at least two of these) seem unable to communicate job title, salary, brand of your company car, and name of the person whom you plan to marry.
Thankfully, the April 1981 Harvard BusinessSchool Bulletin ran a super piece on Ed Kania. Ed, who graduates in June, is still managing to find time to remain a world class track and field champion. After graduation, Ed is planning on landing the 35-pound weights on Peter Roby's little toe, and on pursuing his business interests.
Speaking of your former scribe, I recently was informed that I will have the dubious pleasure of hosting Stanford University's newest basketball coach when he comes to Milwaukee. Pete's tour of duty at West Point was over in June, and his new job at Stanford started in July.
Peter was able to share some information from the Dartmouth of the West. Former room- mates, ruggers, and high school classmates, KenBeer and John Saer, will soon become brothers- in-law. This is courtesy of Margaret Saer; she and Ken will be married in New Orleans on December 22.
Steve Williams is not getting married or going back to school. I am pleased, more than you'll ever know, to be able to share with you the news that Fleishman, Chatham, and Dirico, an Atlanta-based public relations agency, has named Steve account executive.
Has Mark Horton fled the country with his bride? The once-loquacious Mark must have been abducted by Harvard Square Moonies. I used to rely upon his prose for material; needless to say, that source has also dried up.
But as fate would have it, just as one source evaporates, another comes along. Margaret Home has moved to Milwaukee. She is working in the publishing business in Racine, Wise. Unfortunately, Margaret lives clear on the other side of town and has an unlisted phone number. Fortunately, when the wind blows from the south I can hear her with no trouble. Just the other evening I heard her telling someone that Lisa Mendelson was recently wed to Paul Morning, a Kappa clone from the class of '80. There were many Dartmouth people in attendance, but the wind changed direction before I had the chance to jot down their names; I will try to piece together a more complete account for the next issue. Part of the reason for the paucity of detail stems from the fact that Beth Blatt was also in attendance; it seems that Beth and Margaret were both using the same frequency and they they jammed each other's signals.
Now for some sirloin without fat or gristle: Mike Fine is at the University of Pennsylvania Medical School.
Dave Dowd is still short and is at Vanderbilt Law in Nashville.
Bob Grant's brother is the only Buffalo Bill who requires neither helmet nor shoulder pads. Dennis Hughes, much to his mother's delight, has traded in his grays for a suit. Den is with I.B.M. in Boston.
Sara Banks has been incarcerated for selling genetic engineering secrets to the Russians. She is now writing sarcastic notes and letters from an undisclosed location.
Tom Brennan and Larry Gordon are opening a charm school in downtown Boston; the only required reading is the Boston Globe sports section. You must, however, supply your own Baracuta jacket.
Mary Deßoer has started graduate work at Northwestern in Chicago. She is the only person I know who thinks that Bill Swenson is a nice guy. Bill is heavily involved in sales projects at Inland Steel.
Missy Pemberton is giving advice and, believe it or not, getting paid for same. She is in Washington, D.C.
Many people thought that Jeff Miotke was doing Peace Corps work in Africa. I doubt that, as I saw him in a rugby uniform on a TV story about the South African Springboks' rugby tour. It seems that Jeff has joined the establishment, or that he is a plant working for the government of Chad.
Our class has been doing very well in the area of class giving. As a supply-side Alumni Fund advocate, I believe strongly that we should all wisely invest our forthcoming tax cut. Therefore, send it to Dartmouth and benefit us all.
