Greetings from Atlanta! Now for something completely different: I will start this column with news from people who have actually written to me! See, if you write, you will get coverage! Steve Strauss is our mini-reunion chair, and he is trying to solicit regional assistants to organize regional reunions in hotspots like Texas (Houston or Dallas), California (I guess anywhere in California, Steve?), Chicago, Boston, Washington, and any other place where large numbers of '78s have congregated. Anyone interested should write Steve at 245 W. 104th St., #16F, New York, NY 10025. If you are accepted for this dangerous mission, Steve will provide you a list of '78s in your area.

Steve also sent news of Rob Fieldsteel, who has a nice part as a high school "Trekkie" type in the movie Just One ofthe Guys. Rob has also appeared in a "Trapper John, M.D." episode this year. Numerous other '78s are also appearing around the country as doctors this year. Steve also sent a wedding announcement for our class president, Todd Anderson, who married Lynn Campbell in Osterville, Mass., on June 18. Lynn, a Smith graduate, is an AVP in the commodity department of Drexel Burnham Lambert in New York. Todd is a marketing specialist with Merrill Lynch. Unfortunately, The New York Times does not include details of other '78s present.

Pamela Rey wrote with news of her marriage to John Egan (Cornell '75). The formal" outdoor wedding took place in May. Pamela and John are both geotechnical engineers in the San Francisco Bay area. I spoke with John Macomber on the phone and got news of his activities. John and wife Chris bought a house in Cambridge, but they have been unable to get anyone to work on it over the past year, despite the fact that they both work in the construction business. Chris is helping develop the Four Seasons Hotel in Boston, and she is one of John's clients as he coordinates construction of the building. John says his sensitivity training at Dartmouth and this assignment have done wonders for marital bliss. John and Chris also attended a great party at Annie McLane's new house in Manchester, N.H. Annie graduated from Georgetown Law and has now joined the crusty New Hampshire firm of McLane, McLane, McLane, etc. (Well, I know there's at least one McLane in it, and John could not remember the rest.) Annie bought the house from her grandmother, and the party was a huge all-night housewarming with Ellen Meyer, Rob Portman, PeterLewitt, Celia Chen, Sara Pendleton, and Dan Reicher also in attendance. Annie appeared to be happy to give up girdling the earth and to settle back in her native New Hampshire.

Now, to move on to the newsletter "green cards" which Anne Barschall has generously shared with me. Dave Taylor writes that he is wrapping up an anesthesiology residency at Mary Hitchcock in July, and will be moving to New York to do a fellowship at NYU. Dave married Linda Visser, a nurse, on May 26 in Ipswich, Mass., with 1978's Bob Ceplicas,Lou Panella, Hugh "Scrunt" Dyar, DaveBanta, Hal Bennett, and Jeff Nadherny in attendance. Andy Breen chose to stay at Dartmouth (Med) and study rather than attend the festivities. What friendship!

Now for a slew of baby announcements: (I think it says something about how tiring kids are that the people who write about babies are too tired to include any other news). Jackie Kaiko writes that Robin Barone has a bouncing baby boy, Jordan, whose baby fat makes you think the Michelin man is his dad. His real dad is Sid Lea, and the whole family lives in Orford while Robin is finishing her last semester at Vermont Law. Peter Maglathlin and wife, Laurie, had a baby boy, Peter Jr. (P.J.) on April 11. Bob Hyman and wife Laurie Kormornik Hartman ('80) had a baby boy, David, on April 13. Laurie is taking a break from engineering to be a full-time mother. Mark is starting his third year of internal medicine residency at Dartmouth. He will start an endocrinology residency at UVa in July 1986.

Richard Kahn married Cheryl Nikonovich, a fellow law student at Washington and Lee, in 1981. Richard and Cheryl decided that they both would adopt hyphenated names, so Richard is now Richard Nikonovich-Kahn. After graduating from law school in 1982, Richard took a position as in-house counsel for A.L. Williams and Association and bought a home here in Atlanta, where he likes to garden. Another legal eagle, Joan McGivern, is finishing up her clerkship with Judge Piatt in the E.D.N.Y. (I don't know what this is, either). This fall she will be joining White and Case in New York.

Anne Bagamery writes that she has decided to end five and a half years as a corporate observer/critic at Forbes and join the corporate side as speechwriter for the president of Pacific Bell. She plans to complete the transition by working toward an M.B.A. at night. Before starting her new job, she traveled to England and Greece. Anne started her travels the day of the TWA hijacking but continued her trip to Greece (via Athens airport) without incident. Epraim Radner was also affected by political action. He was expelled from Borundi (Africa) by the government because he was running a small seminary training Anglican priests. He is now an associate rector at Grace Episcopal Church, in Brooklyn Heights, N.Y. CayWiebolt Kendrick reports that she and husband George '77 gave up ten acres in rural Montana for one-fourth acre in suburban Salt Lake City when Utah International transferred them both. Cay has gone back to full-time work since the move, training in computer applications to drafting. Both Cay and George do mineral exploration for Utah International.

News from the medical front: Bill Dexter is about to begin his last year of medical school at Medical College of Virginia. He and wife Cindy are expecting their first child soon (maybe before this is printed). Bill and Cindy visited RichardSpier and his wife, Susan, in Atlanta in June. Kevin Barber was also visiting, taking a break from finishing up his Ph.D. in psychology at Vanderbilt. Bill reports that Kevin was looking svelte and says he loves the South. Bill Petit reports that he and wife Linda are planning to move into a condo in Branford, Conn., by July 1. (I guess he is pursuing a medical career at Yale/New Haven.)

Unfortunately, I must end this column on a sad note. Our classmate John Kesner was killed in an automobile accident on June 15 in Oldenberg, Germany. John was a lieutenant in the navy and was in Germany on assignment to NATO. A complete obituary will appear in this or a subsequent issue of the Alumni Magazine.
