Greetings. President McLaughlin's October announcement signaled the end of one era and the beginning of another. Regardless of how one may feel about what the current administration has or has not done, it is clearly a time for all alumni to rally behind the College as it marches forward. I believe that it will be a smooth transition and that Dartmouth's future is brighter than every.

Speaking of bright lights, Doug Goodman is currently in Boston producing and directing the much acclaimed play MyName is Alice. It has received fine reviews in other cities and I'm looking forward to opening night at the Next Move Theater in Boston, where it is showing.

Doug reported that Jim Metzler and he faced each other in some sort of actors guild baseball league. Jim is apparently regarded as the best third baseman in the league and has been christened "Clete." Doug's life is the theater and he has been successfully directing and producing plays for several years.

Jim Sullivan and his wife, Mary, and son, Matthew, are happily ensconced in the San Francisco area. Jim graduated from Stanford Business School after a stint on Wall Street. He's been in the investment banking business ever since. My understanding is that Jim is currently working at Solomon Brothers.

And finally, George Leach has left his position in admissions at Harvard Business School and has joined Merrill Lynch in New York in a high level personnel position. George, I just hope that you're not going to join the ranks of Mets fans. That's it for now. Best wishes to one and all during this holiday season.
