First, due to attrition, the great class of '23 has two new officers. The first is Bud Freeman who, in addition to managing the scholarship fund so magnificently, has agreed to also be the class treasurer replacing another good worker who has passed on, Dick Udall. The second addition to our staff is Bunny Metzel, who will take up the work of Connie Dodge working with the widows of the class. There is also another new name, though a non-member unless we call him such, Don Goss. The son of Clarence and Priscilla Goss, Don will be our liaison with Charlie Zimmerman in running our 65th reunion, plans for which are progressing splendidly. A view of the plans should make all who are physically able make every effort to be back early in June 1988. For the partially disabled there will be local car and bus service provided by the College. A memorial service will again be held and headed by our president, Pete Jones, assisted by our inimitable and loving classmate Msgr. Carlos Sanchez.

The only sad news at this time is that Jim Hennessey's widow, Fran, is or was hos pitalized with a fracture of the hip, yet she still hopes to make reunion in June.

Another bit of sadness is Paul McKown's wife, Priscilla, who recently died of Alzheimer's.

A happier occasion was this summer when Bee and I visited Howie Bartlett who entertained us at his lovely home at South Harpswell. Howie is in good health and recovering from the loss of his wife, Helen, in the spring.

You may note that these alumni notes are shorter than in the past. It is because we are now a part of the Old Guard and are limited to 250 words.

You might like to know that when the aforementioned Don Goss received his alumni award, he quoted this bit of poetry: "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams, and happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort. So do not follow where the path may lead. Go, instead, where there is no path-and leave a trail."
