John Sharer recently completed a nineyear stint as district enrollment director for the Dartmouth Club of Washington, D.C. John was presented with a plaque at the club's summer picnic, and I am sorry that the photo of the award presentation was too dark for publication—I think John's red trousers and white shirt may have knocked out the photographer's light meter. Meanwhile, on the other coast, Lawrie Lieberman is contemplating his first enrollment activity for the Palo Alto/Stanford Club in many years. Lawrie and Moira moved back to the Bay Area a year ago, and are the prototypical Silicon Valley high-tech couple. Lawrie is the president of Paramagnetic Logging, a start-up company in the field of energy technology, and Moira works for a biotechnology firm. Lawrie reports seeing Marc Victor frequently in Menlo Park, where Marc's company, Ligitation Risk Analysis, does just that. Lawrie also reports hearing from Steve and Ellen Mahlum, who returned last spring from an extended around-the-world trip and are now settling back in to life in upstate New York.
Bill and Trudi Price also live in Menlo Park, although Bill's only news is a recent visit with Thurm and Judy Lowans at their new home in Bremerton, Wash. Thurm is a partner in a law firm and was recently promoted to commander in the Naval Reserve. Thurm does his weekend-warrioring on nearby Widby Island with the judge advocate general's staff.
Dave Hetzel is practicing corporate law/federal litigation in Hartford, Conn., with the firm of Hebb and Gitlin. Dave and his wife, Connie, live in nearby West Hartford, and have promised me a visit when they come to the Dallas area to visit Connie's family. Finally, Sheldon and BarbaraPrentice proudly announce the arrival of their third daughter, Julie Ellen, born September 1. It's ironic that a former staunch opponent of coeducation at Dartmouth is now hoping that at least some portion of his private harem will choose his alma mater.
If you still have a Christmas card and a stamp left by the time you read this, I would love to hear from you, even if it arrives in 1988. Have a safe holiday season, and look for the news of a winter mini-reunion in this space next month, with more details coming from Alan Lovell soon.
