Hello from snow country! This first column of '87 finds the northeast enjoying its best snow in years. Hope many of you get out the skis and visit Hanover for the Alumni Winter Weekend. Steve Calvert promises excellent seminars to supplement the sports activity. Steve, my ears on campus, notes that the search for a new president is progressing smoothly, with both administration and faculty asking the right questions about the philoso phy and qualification required of Dartmouth's CEO. The goal is to have a new president in Hanover for Commencement. On a personal note, Steve expressed his pride in his two daughters, who are enthusiastic ice skaters and just passed their red ribbon tests.

Jim Frey was recently named manager for corporate marketing and major accounts for Commercial Office Environments, the largest dealer of office environment systems and services in the Washington, D.C., area. Jim leaves Xerox after 15 years, most recently in the position of business manager for paper. He and Iris, and children James and Hillary will be relocating to Washington. (How about an address, Jim?)

Having called class Smiths last month, I had fun starting down the list of Joneses this month. Had a delightful talk with Calvin Jones, who has stayed at the University of Chicago since receiving his Ph.D. in political science. He works at NORC, the University Research Center, as senior survey director for the Center for Education Statistics. His major ongoing study is a longitudinal study of 1980 tenth and 12th graders being sampled every two years as they make their transitions into adult roles. With his expertise in data analysis, Calvin kindly offered to assist Stan Rosenberg by reviewing the 1968 study data. Calvin's wife, Barbara, is also a data analyst, working for the American Dental Association. They enjoy cross country skiing in parks around the Chicago area.

Calvin keeps in touch with CharlesLenth. Charles worked in Illinois for the State Department of Higher Education until he moved to Longmont, Colo., to work with WICHE, a consortium on higher education.

Eric Jones has been very busy the past three years, establishing the "First in Travel" agency in Boston. He had previously worked at Dartmouth Travel, then moved to Boston, where he co-owned another agency. Eric specializes in medical travel, arranging seminar travel in Boston and Washington, where he is opening a branch currently. He recently transported Mother Theresa to a seminar at the National Council on International Health in Washington. Having founded the North Country Community Theater in Hanover, Eric still consults there and works in community theater in Arlington, Mass.

Eric recently heard from Gary Woodworth. Woody is a cardiac surgeon in Lafayette, Calif., and has two children, ages seven and five.

In the category of lost but not forgotten, we have no current address for FrankAdams, James Brady, Joseph Brown or William Burns. Each month through the spring, I'll mention others in the same category and would love to hear from the named individuals or anyone who can give me a lead.
