George Lester hosted a barbeque mini-reunion for the classes of 1980 and 1979 in Medfield, Massachusetts, this past June. Roger Glovsky and his son; Jeff Demers and his two daughters; Marianne McDonald Carolyn, husband Joe and their two daughters; George, his wife, Blanche Tessier, and their two sons; Cheryl Waterhouse; Susan Fagerstrom; and Mark and Paula Ness Spears were all there. George has agreed to be our mini-reunion chair and would appreciate volunteers to host other events in their neck of the woods.

Gently implying that this column had degenerated into "Who's News in Business" tedium, Robin Shrier Inman suggested that attention should be given our classmates' work in the nonprofit world, either by vocation or avocation. Robin is passionate about public radio, volunteering at both of Boston's public radio stations, WGBH and WBUR, during their on-air pledge drives. Every winter and spring she helps assemble and document the Two Collection, a subset of the WGBH auction consisting of select artwork and antiques. Robin also works at special events for WBUR, and has even met Tom and Ray, the Car Talk guys! Robin reports that their laughter is just as infectious in person as it is over the radio.

Ron Chen teaches at a public university (no profit there). Ron's avocation is rowing, and he is as a member of the board of directors of the U.S. Rowing Association. Additionally, Ron is a volunteer attorney and board member of the ACLU, not only a nonprofit venture but also one that earns Ron hisses on the street. Lately, Ron has been doing his best to keep John Ashcroft from eradicating all civil liberties, but it is an uphill fight.

This past June Bruce Judson finished a four-year term as chairman of the National Neurofibromatosis Foundation. Bruce will continue as chairman emeritus on the board of the NF Foundation, where he has served for the past decade. NF is a genetic disease that is more common than cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy or MS. To keep himself busy Bruce has just joined the board of trustees of the Poughkeepsie Day School, where his children attend. As a faculty fellow at the Yale Management School, Bruce is also concerned with graduate management education.

Lynn Bodden believes that working in the church gives one plenty to profit from and, God willing, profits the world as well. She served one church in the UCC as the pastor, and since then has been doing what's called "intentional interim," transitional work in churches. Prior to divinity school Lynn was a teacher for two years, teaching German from kindergarten to second-grade in a Detroit inner-ring suburb. Lynn lives in downtown Rochester and has been active there in the Salem Nutrition Center, which serves lunch twice a week to between 120 and 250 people. Free clothing is given out once a month. It's a happening place, run by people from various churches and others who find out about it by word of mouth. Lynn's work at SNC has ranged from sharing lunch and conversation with the guests to serving, running the dishwasher and handing out free outdated bread and produce. Lynn also served on the board of directors for six years of the Interim Ministry Network, a professional association of interim ministers, more than 1,600 strong in the United States, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. Finally, she has done plenty of peace organizing, in divinity school during the nuclear freeze movement and with a group seeking alternatives to the current military

response to terrorism. Peace be with you. More good stuff next time.
