By now, I hope everyone has gotten used to the fact that this column no longer appears last in the Class Notes section. I also hope that a little extra searching is not causing a reduction in readership. Those of us who have yet to catch on are probably still turning to the last column and asking themselves, "Who are all of these people, anyway?"
Well, time marches on. It seems that many of us have sown our wild postgraduate oats and are now settling down to routines in work or school. Are we ready for real life or just out of money? You be the judge.
Kathy Selig is back home in New York after traveling through Asia for 11 months. She visited India, Nepal, Burma, Tibet, Thailand, and other exotic locales, and she did it all alone. The trip was enough to give Kathy a case of culture shock as she was forced to reacquaint herself with the American lifestyle.
Also readjusting is Tim Parker, who finished working for Cigna Corp. on Wall Street to attend the Johns Hopkins School of International Relations in Washington, D.C. That left Craig Bamsey searching for a roommate as he continues his job at Goldman, Sachs.
This fall marks the beginning of school for a number of other 'B7s as well. DerrickLopez is attending Cornell Law School after having taught at the Harvey School in Katonah, N.Y.Danielle Charles studies law at St. Louis University, as does AlWoolley at Duke. Andrea Hayes is into her second year at our own medical school following a summer internship at the Watts Health Clinic in Los Angeles. ReginaSpeed began her second year at Georgetown Law School after her summer marriage to Mark Bost.
On the corporate side of life, I continue to hear about the wide variety of jobs that are keeping many of us busy (and no doubt bringing on a few ulcers along the way). Shawn Pennick works for Norstar, Inc., on Wall Street, and Mario Brossard has dedicated his talents to CBS. Here in Denver, Russell Kemp works in the news department for KCNC-TV, the local NBC affiliate. In San Francisco, Laridon Gates works in environmental consulting.
Across the Atlantic, Sharon Daughtry is living in Italy, where her husband, Lorenzo Chambers '85, plays professional football. Veronica Rassias led high school groups on tours of France over the summer, and she is currently attending school in Athens.
Since I have some space left this month, I'll report on an '87 with whom I've been in nearly constant contact, namely myself. I began a training program in June with JD Edwards and Co., a Denver-based software company.I am now doing programming and development work on accounting systems for companies in the minicomputer range. I spend my spare time thinking up titles that sound more "glamorous than "computer programmer." Well, at least it's not on my business card!
