Each year every Dartmouth class is expected to make a report to the College for the year ending June 30. We don't receive a grade for the assignment, but if grades were given, I'm sure the report written and submitted by president Fran Fenn would be 4.0. A few of the highlights of our 50th year: 16 mini-reunions were held around the U.S.A. with a total attendance of 236; creation and publication of the Golden Jubilee 50th Reunion Book in four sections with 181 pages, with a fifth section still to be issued; the class completed funding "The Class of 1937 Scholarship Fund," which has a book value of $44,195 and a market value of $74,545; and finally the overall 50th Reunion gift to Dartmouth, including Alumni Fund, endowment and plant, and bequest expectancies, amounted to $5,758,242.
Ben Doran reports that 15 class members have signed up for the '37 trip on the U.S.Universe, July 3-17 to Alaska, setting sail from Vancouver. For information call Dick Turner at 201/233-3900.
While making some last minute calls to verify addresses for our new class directory, found that Bob and Liz McCoy are moving from Guilford, Conn., to their new home on East Wheelock Street in Hanover and expect to be permanent residents by February. The computer printouts supplied by the college with the names and addresses of all classmates and widows have been checked to the best of our ability and have been sent on to the Cabinet Press, Milford, N.H. (Bill Rotch). Publication should be in a month or two.
Unfortunately, all news is not good, and we must tell you that our very active and loyal classmate Bill Newburger died on December 11 in Cavendish, Vt.
After a six month sabbatical, Fran Fenn has been asked by Dartmouth to assume a new volunteer post for the Alumni Fund, vice chairman for leadership giving. You will be glad to know that he accepted with the understanding that he would only be soliciting non-'37s and only "thanking" '37 leadership donors for what they do for the class and the College.
