The conferring of degrees. At Southeastern Massachusetts University's commencement in June at Dartmouth, Mass., three Dartmouth alumni played prominent roles. At left is Dr. Frank J. Lepreau '34, awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters in recognition of his years as a surgeon in this country, in Africa, and at the Albert Schweitzer hospital in Haiti, and also for teaching at both the Brown and Yale medical schools. Next is former Massachusetts senator Paul E. Tsongas '62, honored for his many contributions to the public good, from the Peace Corps to Congress. At right is Fredric Alpert '54, secretary of the university's board of trustees (and secretary of the class of '54), who presented Sen. Tsongas with the hood of Doctor of Public Administration.
