While rummaging thru my "well organizecr files, I find that I forgot to report that Pres Moore was honored by the National Executive Service Corps. It was for a volunteer property-utilization study he completed for New York's Lower East Side Service Center.
Pres was with I.M. Pei for over 30 years as a project architect for many major private and public buildings. Sorry about the delay, Pres, and I know you will be amused by a recent New Yorker cartoon titled Eskimo Pei. It shows an eskimo smiling from his glass igloo, shaped in the same style as the new pyramid entrance to the Louvre, designed by I.M. himself.
Jim Adams sent me a note on Hanover Inn stationery, which for a moment made me think that we had been accepted at the Inn for the Yale weekend. He also sent a snapshot of Doc Fielding's "Hardway Smith" joke, which involves a chap who mows the steep slope on his lawn with a lawn mower on ropes. Doc, I hope you'll repeat the joke at our mini, because I have forgotten the punch line.
Fred Stockwell sent in a brief note with a picture of the Limings, Townshends, and Stockwells "old" roommates reunion at the Townshend ranch in Montana. The picture shows the boys enjoying a glass of Gatorade after a hard day on the trail.
About the end of September our son asked if he could use our cottage for a delayed honeymoon. We agreed and rather than retreat back to Connecticut, we decided to spend our 43 rd anniversary on Martha's Vineyard. It was our first trip to this beautiful island, and nice to think about as we read this Winter edition of the DAM. We were amazed to find that it was relatively undeveloped. There was so much rugged beauty out towards Gay Head and the cliffs and isolated beaches. We also added another restaurant to our list, called l'etoile and connected with Charlotte's Inn.
Please keep the letters coming and remember we have lowered our standards from mountain climbing (we only have one Fred Stockwell) to walking the doe (we have lots of these).
Happy Holidays to you and your families from all the Towers.
