Exciting news from Haven Blake: "I married a fine man (bride for the third time!), Bill Groening, on January 26 a widower who lived in my complex, retired VP and General Counsel for Dow Chemical. My sons and two granddaughters came as well as three of Bill's children. Also Marian Abel and Frances Zahm. We plan to attend Bill's Law School Reunion (University of Michigan)." Marian reports, "Fran Zahm will leave Florida in mid June to spend most of the summer in Buffalo (Orchard Park, N.Y.), then to Hanover to check the garden."

Frances Zahm reports, "Marian Abel will leave Florida June 1 for Chicago it's Marian's birthday. They will attend the youngest grandson's graduation. Then she will be off to Greensboro, Vt., for the summer." Marian wrote that she would later go to Nantucket. She had breakfast with Haven and Bill and was much impressed.

Larry is proud to report on a book his granddaughter Dorothy Cheney wrote in collaboration with Robert Steyfarth. She is an anthropologist, he a psychologist, both at Pennsylvania .As Monkeys See The World (University of Chicago Press) is very favorably reviewed. Larry and I have both enjoyed it. Professor Marler of the University of California (Davis) says, "We have long waited for the insights of the cognitive revolution to be applied and reformulated in the context of the natural behavior of animals. Cheney and Steyfarth succeed beautifully in demonstrating both commonalties and the contrasts between human and animal intelligence."
