Ah, the coming of spring, such a splendid time of the year in northern New England. "Mudtime," as Robert Frost put it. Remember those softball games on the Green, crew races on the Connecticut River, picnics at the Union Village Dam, studying on the Streeter "beach." Never mind that the daytime temperature was still only about 50 degrees; we had survived the long Hanover winter and were ready for Bermuda shorts and sneakers.

Back in midwinter this year, my wife, Ann, and I joined Bob and Joan Holmberg, and their daughter Molly in cheering on their son Tim as he swam his way to the Maine high school Class B State Championship in the 500- meter freestyle and to a second place finish in the 200-meter race. Great fun.

Back in October tie board of directors of the Plaistow (NH) Co-operative Bank announced that Paul Rizzi was to be their new president and chief executive officer. A graduate of the Whittemore School of Business at UNH, Paul has spent more than 22 years in the banking business. Congrats, Paul.

Rich duMoulin is in the shipping business on the East Coast. He owns and operates the 176-year-old Marine Transport Lines, the nation's oldest marine shipping company. Of course Rich manages to spend plenty of time on the water himself, too, sailing with Ann and their four children.

It turns out that while Rich sails around Newport, R.I., and in Long Island Sound during the summer, Charles Gay and his family are racing their Cal 20 on San Francisco Bay. Charles still organizes treks in Nepal, where his wife directs the University of Wisconsin Nepal program, and the Gay family spend their summers in California.

A belated "Happy First Birthday" to Elizabeth Olson, born to Dick Olson and Deb on January 24,1991, their third. Dick still works in the publications department of the United Auto Workers in Detroit, where he edits a leadership magazine and helps to organize labor.

Rick Wottrich reports from Chicago that his new investment banking firm will soon roll out a venture capital fund focusing on the hightech information processing industry.

Let's hear from the rest of you.
