After completing her master's degree in secondary English education at Columbia Teachers College, Lauren Beiley took off for Segovia, Spain, where she has been teaching English since September. After two years in Spain she will return to the States to teach. Lauren reports seeing Steve Wydler, who is living in Madrid and tutoring for the Princeton Review while studying for a masters in political science.

One by one those Fordham Law students become known to me. If you go to Fordham Law, I'll find you sooner or later. This time, thanks to the above-mentioned Ms. Beiley, it's Elizabeth Maringer who is reported to be studying at Fordham. Before starting law school she spent a year working for the sex crimes unit of the NYC District Attorney's office. Lauren and Elizabeth will be bridesmaids at Lynn Kaufman's wedding this August.

A guy who operates under the false assumption that it's actually difficult to get a mention in this column is none other than Wes Wang. This false assumption has driven Wes to throw numerous parties at stylish clubs all around Manhattan. I would like to say that I personally believe throwing a party is a bit excessive, but if you feel that such an exercise is really and truly necessary to earn yourself a place in this column, then be my guest.

Realizing she's in a "desirable destination for visitors," Hallie Brooks decided to write to say she's out in Vail, Colo., teaching skiing and working at a restaurant on the mountain. If she's able to tear herself away from the Colorado lifestyle, Hallie plans to enter a pre-med program back east this fall. She reports Eric Toler is also there on the Beaver Creek ski patrol.

A team-written letter from Peter Harvey,Anna Cathcart, and Nate Emerson had to have been written under the influence of something probably the sacher torte Anna baked. The trio spent early January "yodelling" their way through the Tirolian Alps, skiing and telemarking (not telemarketing, as Nate put it). Pete and Anna were in Albertville, France, where they worked as guides for Sports Illustrated during the Winter Olympics. They also learned Spanish and Catalan (a local Spanish dialect) in preparation for their jobs as guides for Time magazine during the summer games in Barcelona. As previously reported, Nate is teaching English and practicing his Chinese in China.

Several '90s previously mentioned in this column have traveled to countries that have asked for educational assistance from the World Teach organization. Sarah Taggart is the most recent member of our class to participate. She is spending the year teaching English in Oshakati, in northern Namibia.

Seung-hee Lee is back from Krakow, Poland, where she taught English for a year. She took the U.S. Foreign Service examination and may be working in the Foreign Service by the time you read this. She sent along the following info: Mike O'Neil is studying at Stanford for his teaching certificate. Karen Yeowell is at the UNC School of Public Health studying for a degree in environmental chemistry. LizaLavado is studying at Georgetown and waiting for responses to her medical school applications. Cecelia Yu is finishing her second year at Dartmouth Med. D.C. Metro-area residents Jane Varner and Amit Malhotra are reported by Seung to be alive and well.

Your letters and postcards are much appreciated, as always.

See you next time.
