Before jumping to this month's slew of news and propaganda, allow me a moment of indulgence. I'm sure all of you read JohnMcManus's latest installation of our class newsletter and his jab at us for our erratic reportage. John was right to criticize us for not getting this column written in a timely fashion. Rick and I have discussed it, and though each of us has gone through some time-consuming and life-changing adjustments in the past few months (I had a baby girl, Rick got a new job), we agreed to either get this column in every month, or resign our positions and let someone else have a shot at it. So, that being said, let's get on with it...Actually, there's one more thing. Though justified, I'm not sure John's criticism is particularly appropriate it would seem our venerable newsletter is in danger of becoming a yearly publication!
The rumor mill has been grinding that Joanna Tsiantas is expecting her first child soon. Word is that Joanna has also moved back home to Newburyport, Mass., to ensure that Junior is raised with the best accent to be found in the Northeast (barring, perhaps, West Leb). Joanna, call me and rebut. Other news of babyhood, this time from Rachel Spielman Seder, who wrote us of the recent arrival of Samuel Matthew on June 5. Rachel and her husband, Eric (Harvard '79), are splitting their time between New York and San Francisco, where Eric runs a gourmet-food catalog.
My fellow class secretary, Rick Joyce, mentioned that he recently ran into Chip Miller while out exercising his kids. Chip, who was doing the same with his kids, has broken away from the pack and gone into the business of selling hi-tech displays. Sounds like he also gave Rick the hard sell on leaving the safe corporate world and becoming an entrepreneur. Not about to happen, however, as Rick has just moved from his consulting job at BoozAllen to a cushy position at ASCAP. Wondering what the B-side of Blondie's first single was? Now you know who to call.
Finally, in closing, I would remind you guys (as if you need it) that the tenth anniversary of our graduation is approaching. Given that we won't actually be celebrating this fact for another year due to that wonderful thing called "reunion clustering" I thought it would be a cool idea to at least have a kind of written reunion in these pages. It's been ten years, guys where are you now? Write, call, fax, or e-mail us with your news. Especially those of you who have not been covered in these pages before. It's kind of tough getting this thing done without you.
