Back in December Al Harrington sent me an article from the Boston Globe about groups of retired men who get together periodically for lunch. Several groups were mentioned, but the one featured was the Third Thursday Chowder and Munching Society, consisting of a dozen or so Lexington men, including our own Sumner "Sub" Harris. "The TTC&MS is proud to have no officers, no rules, no agenda, no oaths, no pledges and no dues." It sounds similar to the Dartmouth group that meets once a month at the Cumberland Club in Portland for lunch, and which usually includes BradChase, Bill Niss, Martindale, and often Pete Fitzherbeet. Ours is not strictly a retirees group, so we do have a wide age spread, and we all have Dartmouth in our background. Aside from the latest news from Hanover, our topics of conversation are probably very similar, such as grandchildren, the price of heating oil (or electricity), travel, taxes, the state of the State, and health problems.

Last November Al and Jane Gibney left Warren, R. I., on the Caribbean Prince, an 80- passenger cruise ship with a six-foot draft that travels to Florida almost entirely by the Inland Waterway. The trip took 14 days with stops at ten cities. The atmosphere was very relaxed, plenty of food, a congenial group, and it was an easy way to make the annual trek to Flori- da, says Al.

"Survival With Class" Dep't.: Shortly before the end of 1993 the above-mentioned Bill Niss gave us word of his engagement to Hildegarde "Hilly" Gignoux, a widowed neighbor and longtime friend. A small family wedding ceremony was planned for February 12. We wish them both good health and much happiness.

Fred Babcock advises that he would be happy to see any' 36ers who happen to be near Punta Gorda, Fla., in the coming weeks. Just let him know in advance when you would like to pay him a visit at his Cypress Lodge. His telephone number is (813) 639-3445.

The spring mini-reunion is scheduled, as usual, for Class Officers Weekend, May 6-7. If you haven't already made plans to attend, now is the time to do it!
