Apparently the Class of 1942 settled down over the holidays and decided to take life easy for a change. At least Santa failed to overwhelm this writer with a deluge of news releases - or even a mere trickle of same. I trust he may have, dropped a sack of items down Lipp's chimney.
This is a fine opportunity to mention class members who are serving the College and the alumni in varied and important capacities. Our representatives on the Alumni Council are Bob Strasenburgh of Rochester, N. Y., and Ed Spiegel of Webster Groves, Mo. Ed also serves on the Council's Committee of Enrollment and Admissions.
Warren Kreter is vice president of the Class Agents Association. Wally Meckes of Cleveland, Ohio, and Don Williamson of Skokie, Ill., are members of the National Enrollment Committee.
The Class is well represented around the country in official capacities in Alumni Clubs and Associations. Guy Swenson is president of the Association of Merrimack County. Dr. Bob Giles heads the Association of North Texas. Bob lives in Dallas. Dr.Dick Hempstead is president of the Spokane and Inland Empire Association. Secretary of the Florida Association is Bob Atwood of St. Petersburg. Dick Riggs holds the same position with the Club of Western Oklahoma.
Bob Hill continues to be active on the dinner-speaking circuit. He addressed the Cohase Lions Club and Woodsville-Wells River Rotary Club in Woodsville, N. H., in late fall.
A very pleasant letter from Jean and Don Kerr brought news of Don's successful campaign for election to the Schenectady, N. Y„ School Board. He is with General Electric in employee relations work. The Kerrs have two sons and a daughter, the oldest seventeen. Don, who has an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University, participates in such civic activities as school work, Boy Scouts and church. Judging from the informal family portrait Jean enclosed, Don hasn't changed a bit from the days we climbed around the eaves of old Crosby Hall!
That depletes the grab bag for this round. The concluding hope is that 1942 Class activity and information flow relative to same pick up as 1963 gets under way.
