My filing system might more closely resemble that of W.C. Fields (whom you are old enough to remember) if only I had a roll-top desk. Nevertheless I can usually come up with what I want, so I am reasonably sure I never received a timely report of the death of Ernie Wright. Hence the late announcement below. Blame the P.O.

A note was received last March from BruceLewis who wishes his classmates to know he has been in a nursing home in Edgewater Manor in Hobe Sound, Fla., since January. He enclosed a cheerful picture of himself with his wife, Thelma. Lack of space has prevented an earlier report.

The Norristown (Pa.) Times Herald reports in a long article that in celebration of a winning football season Ursinus College paid tribute to our own Jack McAvoy at halftime during a game last October. He coached their football team in the early thirties and is considered the dean of their coaches. In his day the team was known as the "Men of McAvoy." Under his guidance they enjoyed three winning seasons. If memory serves, the last time I saw Jack was at our 50th Reunion when President Eisenhower was visiting the campus. One evening there was a brief cavalcade with the President in the leading open car acknowledging the applause of the crowd. At the end of the parade came another open car with Jack in the back seat graciously responding to the cheers of the multitude. I guess I haven't forgotten it because it was unforgettable.

I regret to report the deaths of Ernie Wright in December 1992 and Nick Carter April 13 last.
