We received no cards this month, but we do have a story: It was preparing to rain, that last Saturday afternoon of October, and the three men in the old Pierce Arrow were tired. The New York- bound traffic was heavy on the Boston Post Road in Darien, Conn. The excitement at the Bowl had ended about an hour before. The duel between Albie Booth and Dartmouth's Al Marsters '30 had exceeded all expectations, and only a pass interception late in the game had given the Blue the win, continuing the Jinx.
The Pierce Arrow crawled through the congested traffic, stopping at a main intersection. Suddenly police whistles started blowing and within seconds two of Darien's finest ran up to the car with drawn revolvers. The two in the front seat were ordered out of the car. When the third, who had been asleep in the back, did not move, a policeman kneeled on the front seat and pointed his gun at the startled man. "Hands up or I'll shoot, he shouted, and the no-longer-drowsy one
The three were lined up alongside the car and handcuffed. Traffic stopped in all directions, and crowds poured out of autos and excursion buses to watch the capture of these obvious felons. Quickly the three were driven to the Darien jail, and placed in separate cells. It began to rain, and the out look for them, your classmates, appeared as dark as the leaden skies.
Don't miss the next issue of your Class Notes in the DAM for the exciting conclusion of this true-life story.
