This month's DAM issue should reach you in time to make last-minute plans to come to Hanover for this year's fall mini-reunion, _ the weekend of October 20-22. If you're of a mind to, telephone Len Matless right now (603-643-5391) and tell him you're coming.
Hanover and New England in October are great places to be, especially if you haven't been there for awhile. Come on back and see what's going on with the College.
My thanks to Alden Fallows '52 for the following note: "Word has come that Dick Ceely and his wife Shirley have sold their beautiful sailboat and returned to Ann Arbor after sailing for three years on the intercoastal waterway from Maine to Florida and wintering in the Bahamas. Their dream adventure has not dampened their enthusiasm for sailing. With two grandchildren living in Wellesley (Mass.), one can expect to see them sailing off Annisquam in the summer. Dick especially wants to thank his classmates who were so helpful during his three-year sojourn."
The recent issue of the Tuck School alumni magazine brings news of Ken Edelson. He has sold Sportscraft, which he ran for 40 years and nurtured to a major supplier of sports goods to the retail trade. Ken continues as a paid consultant to the company and the sporting goods industry. He plans to join SCORE, an association of retired executives who volunteer advice and assistance to small businesses. Ken adds, "Skis and golf clubslong in moth balls—may be released for active duty."
Fifty Joe's most recent newsletter triggers the following thought...He and Cul Modisette are seeking recruits for a wilderness canoe trip in the back-country of Alaska's barely explored national wildlife refuge in August 1966. Sounds terrific for those young fellas who have taken care of themselves and are physically fit enough to undertake such a marvelous trip. Alas, that doesn't include me.
However, I have an idea for the less fit and somewhat less intrepid. I've always wanted to do the Alcan Highway trip to Alaska, the 1,500-plus miles from Dawson Creek, Canada, to Fairbanks. My thought is to start in Sandpoint, Idaho, where my son lives, and to take about a month for the round trip in four-wheel-drive vans. Any takers?
Mini-reunion chairmen Len Matless and Dave Taylor remind us of the 1950 tailgate parties before each home football game, as well as at Yale (October 14) and Harvard (October 28). Look for the 1950 banner on top of a car. The remaining home games: October 21, Colgate; November 11, Brown; November 18, Princeton.
That's it. Send me some news for upcoming issues!
