Per usual, I am a writer in desperation. There are only several hours to go before Pat and I depart for our first visit to the emerald island of Ireland for a two week vacation. We do not have a fixed itinerary but have rented a car and plan to stay at bed and breakfasts while visiting many of the famous spots, allowing time to mingle with not-so-famous Irish people in the small towns and pubs.
Apparently, most '62s have also been vacationing, since the mailbag was almost empty and Dartmouth's trusty news-clipping service came up totally empty.
Please accept my oversight in failing to report the participation of Judith and Eric Matthies at our San Francisco "55 in '95 Birthday Bash." Both Judith and Eric are fulltime attorneys and have maintained their law practice for many years in Ocala, Fla. The Matthies have purchased a home in San Francisco and are gradually concentrating more of their practice in California and spend at least one week in five in San Francisco.
Pat and I received a "newsy" note from Karen and Joshua Rich, with whom we had spent a fascinating two hours searching throughout San Francisco's Chinatown for "red" olives needed for a supplement to our reunion libations. Karen and Josh are totally immersed this summer in preparing for the upcoming early fall wedding of their son Christopher. You can look forward to Karen and Josh's participation at '62's mini-reunion during Homecoming Weekend, October 2022. Join us at the faculty lounge at Hopkin's Center during/after the bonfire. Many '62s plan to stay at the Airport Economy Inn (1- 800-433-3466).
Dr. Richard J. Hannah, with wife Joan, also thoroughly enjoyed the San Francisco reunion. During the bus ride to and from Barbara and Jay Fritz's Sonoma Valley vineyard, Dick circulated a memorandum summarizing various theories on "personality" and encouraged us to add our thoughts. I hope Gordy Williamson will shortly be able to publish the results of Dick's study in our class newsletter.
Time is a fleeting and I must catch my plane. Hope to see many of you in the fall. As always, keep sending those letters!
