Lots of news from New York this month. ElizabethJanis Upton went to MarianShelton's wedding. The ceremony was in Gracie Mansion, with Mayor Giuliani officiating. Both Marian and spouse Saul Cohen practice law in the city. While in New York, Elizabeth visited with Kathy Heintzelman, "whose life is hectic but enjoyable as managing editor of Us Magazine." Kathy passed on that Jennifer Kintzing Cadoff is pursuing a successful career as a freelance writer. Jennifer, spouse Evan, and children Rebecca and Eli live in East Brunswick, N.J.

Maris Viedemanis was kind enough to write from his aerie on Park Avenue, where he practices lawwith one of New York's longestablished and nationally recognized law firms, Kaye, Scholer, Fierman, Hays & Handler ("founded in 1917"). Maris specializes in product-liability litigation and is apparently doing quite well. Maris's spouse Gail, a Juilliard graduate, has established a successful operatic career—no easy task in the competitive New York arts scene.

Close by, Ethan Weiner is the director of clinical research at Pfizer in Groton, Conn. He is working on development of drugs for arthritis and Alzheimer's disease—we all may benefit one of these days! Ethan and Diana have three children ranging from 12 years old to the "still-in-diapers stage"—Daniel Alexander was born last February.

I seem to get more news from (and about) doctors, lawyers, and writers than anyone else. It was a pleasure to hear from a different profession this month: Scott Simons and his partner John Orcutt '59 were awarded an American Institute of Architects design award for their design of a teaching facility in Auburn, Maine. The AIA describes their creation as "a handsome structure made with care and consistency. This building has been worried about right down to the last nut."

And last, by now you should have received the latest news on our class scholarship fund, which is doing quite well, thanks to the hard work and dedication of Melanie Fisher Matte, our class treasurer. But we can always use more contributions, and it is time for the annual "vacation with a classmate" sweepstakes. Last year's competition was very popular. As you may recall, the winners were given Corey Bock's address in Paris and invited to stay with him as long as they wanted, whether he liked it or not. I understand that Corey has since fled the City of Lights for a monk's cell in Anatolia that is not big enough to accommodate visitors. Happily, we have classmates living in exotic locations all over the worldsome of whom would be surprised, if not pleased, to meet you and your entire family. Send in a big check to Melanie and tell us where you want to go! Your dedicated class officers will take care of the rest.

That's it for this month. Thanks to those who faxed and sent letters! If you have a minute, drop or fax me a line. Thanks.
