While I had my nose in a scarf all winter, HeidiKern had hers in a book, as she began a doctoral program in develop mental psychology at the University of Miami. Heidi's other news is that—you guessed it—she is engaged to Eric Schwartz '91, who she has known since they were neighbors on fourth-floor Hinman freshman year. "Who says life in the River is all bad?" writes Heidi. Eric is a radiology resident in Miami, and the two will be married this August 10 in Freeport, Maine.
Here are some more random, unrelated facts on fellow classmates: LaKellia Moore was spotted in West Africa recently by fellow Dartmouth alum Richard Joseph '65, who was giving a talk on "Democratization and Conflict in Africa" at the American Cultural Center in Abidjan. LaKellia is working as an information officer/editor with the Federal Broadcasting Information Service in Abid jan.
Did you know that Jim Hall was elected student body president of the U Maine Law School in Portland? According to the anonymous tip I was given Jim spends his spare time researching sand accretion issues and also aids the poor and elderly with their income tax preparation.
Did you know that Chris Puckett, Dartmouth's last gift to the U.S. Olympic Ski Team, won a NorAm giant slalom at Stratton Mountain this past winter?
Ann Koppel writes, "when I left for Dartmonth, my friend's father expressed concerns that I would 'stay up north and become a Yankee. His prophecy might be coming true." Although Ann is still in law school in the Midwest, she fell in love with New York so much last summer when she worked in the legal department at IBM that she decided to take a job at a law firm there this summer. Ann writes that Amy Candido, who is also in law school at U Chicago, has also taken a job at New York megafirm Cravath, Swaine & Moore.
"I ran into Nancy Coffee a few times this semester when I was interviewing in Chicago," writes Ann. Nancy is working at Leo Burnett and living with Julie Gordon '93.
Ann is also in touch with Katy Horner who is working in Boston for a law firm. "She is loving life back in New England (she was in Los Angeles all last year)." Ann also writes with the scoop on Guy Harrison's wedding, which was die weekend before Thanksgiving in Dallas. "There was a healthy showing of Dartmouth folks there," writes Ann.
In the wedding party were best man BrendanHenry, David Rissmiller, Brian Angerame,John Bajus, and Luke Dann. Brendan and Erin Sudbury, who was also there, are in law school at Texas. Also in attendance at the wedding were Steve Murphy, who is working for Anderson Consulting in Oklahoma, Cary Roseth, who is teaching Spanish and coaching soccer, cycling, and skiing at Kimball Union in N.H., Drew Williamson, second year at Duke med school, WalterWukasch, Dan Williams, Matt Niehaus,Ashmita Goswami, Jill Adelman, MaggieLockwood, Kirstie Krall, Abby Karp, AlannahLink, Beth Breckenridge, Adam Grossman, and Dom Engels.
