I received an interesting e-mail from Jim Aiken describing how he and Sue moved to Stockholm, Sweden, this summer after he had spent most of 1996 in Sweden following the merger of the Upjohn Co. with Pharmacia AB. The Aikens had previously lived for 18 years in Kalamazoo, Mich., where Jim was the director of several drug-discovery programs. Daughter Kate (Aiken) Moody '92, married to classmate Tony Moody '92, remained in the U.S., but their 16 year-old son Rob moved with them to Stockholm. "Can you imagine what it is like to be a 16 year-old in Stockholm?" Jim wondered aloud.

He indicated that he and Sue had recently had dinner with Marcia and PeteFredericks who, as previously reported, had just moved to Stockholm with the U.S. Commerce Department. Jim and Pete had not known each other well at Dartmouth, but apparently Kate noticed the announcement of the Fredericks move to Stockholm in the Alumni Magazine and they soon got together. Jim commented on the coincidence of how the Dartmouth family brought them together 31 years after graduation in Stockholm, Sweden! (Editor's Note: All the more reason to keep those cards, letters, and e-mail coming—you never known who may be interested!)

Jim also spoke to Claude (Rocky)Liman, whom he described as "a star golfer, x-country ski bum extraordinaire, English professor, freelance sports writer, and Dad in Thunder Bay, Ontario." While on the subject of golf, Jim has extended an offer to all interested classmates (pay attention Webster, Orro, Atkinson,Lochridge, etc.) to an above-the-arcticcircle golf game for late June with a midnight tee time for anyone who will show up. Jim expects to be in Sweden for a few years "trying to find treatments for diabetes, coronary heart disease, obesity, and a number of other common problems before I am overtaken by them." His address is: Heleneborgsgatan 10 S-117 32 Stockholm and he used Sue's e-mail: .

A press release from Nichols College in Dudley, Mass., brought the new that Gregg Hannah of Pomfret, Conn., has just been promoted to associate professor of business management from assistant professor of business management. Gregg has been in the Nichols family since 1988. After Dartmouth he received an M.B.A. from Northwestern University and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from Bryant College. Prior to joining Nichols,. Gregg was president of Marquette Capital Management Corp of Minneapolis and for 12 years was a senior executive of Norwest Bank Minneapolis.

From the mini-reunion, a note from Mike Gonnerman relating that he has been an independent financial consultant for the past seven years while serving as a director of four companies. He said that he is celebrating his last tuition payment and indicated that his daughter Jennifer has recently been writing articles for the New Village Voice in New York City.

Finally, Jean and I enjoyed attending Dartmouth's season-ending victory at Princeton to wrap up a 10-0 season. Our two Princeton sons even honored their father and older brother (Dartmouth '96) by sitting on the Dartmouth side. The Big Green looked good bringing back lots of memories of the great Blackman teams of our undergraduate years.
