Arthur Armstrong tells me he has spent most of his married life of 60 years with wife Frances on the West Coast, where he practiced tax law. They have three children and are enjoying retirement in Solvang, Calif. Art sends his greetings. I also heard from John Hough, who sadly remembered Bob Long, his old-time friend; William Ward, who was pleased with his birthday card and spoke of the loyalty of the class wives ('27 Dartmouth men were very adept in choosing great mates!); Gordon Colby, who remembers Dartmouth's victory over Yale in 1924 but wasn't spry enough to make it this year; Lionel Gore, who tells of his daily visit with the genial group of ten for coffee, reading, and TV, which is as exciting as it sounds, but he is still driving; Ted Selig, whose family now consists of 39 members, including three children, 11 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren; and, last but not least, Bill Laighton, who fell and broke his back but is now in a wheelchair and learning to walk again doing fine. They all send greetings to old friends in the class of 1927. Sorry to send word of the death of Herschel B. Fryberger Jr. in September 1997.
