Remember when Hamlet told Ophelia to "get thee to a nunnery?" Holly Parker writes that at the Brooks School in North Andover, Mass., she is still waiting for Ophelia to show up. Having sequestered herself in the "monk-like existence" of private high school, Holly spends her days living in a dorm with 15-year-olds and coaching and teaching English. And she likes it! Never fear—Holly does manage to escape, too—she notes that she spent the last spring break in the British Virgin Islands "acting like an adult" (by going on a black coffee and alcohol diet) and managed to walk away with her U.S. sailing certification.

Holly also passed along some other '96 news. In May Hannah Mertaugh Jensen took a break from her job at Wesleyan to spend a couple of weeks trekking around Turkey. Up in Boston, Bruce Turpie is employed in a lab by day and training for triathlons and other painful pursuits by night. Having just bought a "spiffy" new bike, Bruce is doing his best to avoid nutty Boston drivers as he trains.

Kristen Carlone reports that in April, she moved from Rhode Island to Minnesota to live with her boyfriend, Mike Hurley (Bryant College '98). The couple lives near Minneapolis, where Kristen works for Miller & Schroeder Financial, aiding the firm's sales efforts and internal marketing. "I like both Minnesota and my job so far," she says, "and am thrilled with my decision!"

Before leaving the East Coast, Kristen caught up on the career happenings of several classmates. Eliza Barry has finished her second year at Northeastern Law School and moved to Natick, Mass., where she interned over the summer at the law firm of Edwards & Angell. Mai Wrenn has taken the Massachusetts teacher certification exam, and also finished the first year of her M.Ed, at Boston College. Abbey HendersonLombardi is back in Boston's financial district after leaving TFS Financial Advisors to start a new firm. Julie Goodwin is in medical school at Boston University. And StephArgamaso has begun working part-time at Dartmouth Medical School, though rumor has it that she has also been auditing film studies classes and working with the local Wild Swan Theater group, and hopes soon to begin schooling in the arts.

Congratulations go out to PaceDuckenfield, who on Aug. 1 celebrated his first wedding anniversary to Jennifer Daniel '97. Pace is currently finishing up law school studies at the University of Maryland, while Jennifer works for the Federal Trade Commission's anti-trust division. Pace notes that while working for MCI Worldcom over the summer, he got a glimpse of the regulatory issues facing telecommunications and the FCC. He did manage to escape the Washington chaos briefly during a two-week U.S. Army Reserve stint in South Korea.

Finally, the last few months have been very busy for Carrie Kuss. In May Carrie ran her second marathon with her father, Ted Kuss '68. Managing to avoid major injury, she was able three weeks later to walk (rather than be wheeled) down the aisle for her May 29, 1999, wedding to John Denning. Chris Marston was among those participating in the ceremony, while TomCaputo, Sarah Lenczner '97, and professor Dean Spiliotes all joined Carrie and John for the special day. After honeymooning in Tahiti/French Polynesia, Carrie moved to Virginia to join John, and has taken a new job working as a regional representative for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a well-known facility dedicated to the treatment and eradication of childhood cancer. Best wishes to the new couple.

I'm afraid I'm out of room. 'Til next month.
