This month's column will have to be a quick and dirty one, as I'm short on news and just minutes away from my deadline.

Keith Boykin's second book, Respectingthe Soul, was published in March. He is currently in the midst of a 17-city tour to promote his book, which offers daily reflections to deal with the difficult issues of race and sexuality. Keith's first book, One More River to Cross: Black & Gay inAmerica, was a finalist for a Lambda Literary Award and has made Keith a popular lecturer on college campuses and elsewhere.

Check your local listings this month for the film In My Corner, which will premiere on the award-winning PBS documentary series P.O.V. Ricki Stern directed and co-produced this film about young men coming of age within the world of a community boxing gym. Working with co-producer Anne Sundberg '90 and cinematographer Will Rexer '86, Ricki has spent four years on this project, which received terrific reviews from The NewYork Post and New York Magazine. In MyCorner was one of only 12 new films selected for broadcast by P. 0. V this year, from a field of over 700.

Esther Schrader has had a busy year. She and her husband, Nick Anderson, were both promoted from reporters on the metro staff of The Los Angeles Times to national correspondents in the Times, Washington bureau. Esther covers U.S. foreign policy with Latin America and Nick covers the California congressional delegation. The couple have bought their first house in Chevy Chase, Md. and in early March Esther gave birth to daughter Rebecca.

I heard from Allison Bleyler over the holidays. She has relocated from the Midwest to Stamford, Conn, and is thrilled to be back on the East Coast. How she survived the 90-minute (each way) commute from her home in Chicago to her job in Racine, Wis., for as long as she did is beyond me. After many years at S.C. Johnson, Allison is now in corporate marketing with Blyth Industries, a manufacturer of candles and home fragrances. What she does miss about Chicago is her old-time string band—Allison took up fiddle-playing last year and has been playing square dances and other similar venues ever since. She's now looking to meet some banjo and guitar players near Stamford to jam with.

A final few tidbits I've collected along the way: Sally McColl gave birth to daughter Ellie last August. Son Jack is 3. Laura Gasser tied the knot with Marc Katz over last Labor Day weekend in California's wine country. Betsy Booth will be married this October in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Laura Korfitnann was married last June to Brian Potasiewicz. Michele Rivard is engaged to Andrew Patzman. Cheryl andJohn Walsh welcomed their third daughter, Kelly, on March 11.

We're now off for the summer, but keep your news coming! By the time I have to submit my next column for the September issue, I will have given birth to twins, so I'm counting on all of you to make my reporting job a little easier, at least for the next few months!
