It is to be presumed that the executive committee at its meeting during our mini-reunion in October will by now have ratified George Hanna as our president. We are happy to report that we have nothing to report up front about passing classmates since last month. We shall keep fingers crossed.
We have heard from many, as shocked about the passing of Bert MacMannis as we were. Most of the executive committee has written, as have Wally Davis from Pennsylvania, Bob Fletcher from California, Don Sayia from New Jersey and Frank Perry from Texas.
A Green Card from Bob North reflects his sadness at Bert's passing, and says although Bob is slowing down somewhat he still spends two days working at the Bradley Air Museum at Windsor Locks, Connecticut.
From another Green Card we learn of the change of address of Paul O'Brien from Hilton Head Island to 14 Andover Place, Sun City, Bluffton, SC 29910.
Bill Webster, attended by his three sons, went out to Curtis Wright in Columbus, Ohio, for whom Web flew as a test pilot during WWII. He carried with him some papers for the company museum that he had collected through his father, a pioneer in the world of aviation.
Twenty-five years ago, as an idealistic 22year-old freshman member of the N.H. House judiciary committee Kate Hanna, daughter of George Hanna, pushed a bill through the legislature that created a non-partisan commission to recruit and screen candidates for state judgeships. It was never signed by the thengovernor. Kate has just been appointed by another governor to just such a judicial search commission in the wake of a judicial problem with the state Supreme Court. What goes around comes around.
It is to be assumed that Adam Nelson '97 who our class was responsible for luring to Dartmouth, has just made the Olympic team along with the longest (over 70 feet) shot put performance in the world this year to date.
Warner Kiefaber sent a copy of a picture of the 1938 football squad complete with the autographs of all the players, that he uncovered the other day. It was used in a charily auction in Dayton, Ohio, years ago, and as far as Warner and I are concerned, it featured our smiling faces.
