The great experiment has begun—e-mailing to computer-literate classmates for news. Am finding many in correctaddresses in die class printout. Do me a favor and e-mail me your address! Charlie Cusack e-mails the freshman class profile: 27 book award winners, 27 Eagle Scouts, 312 musicians, 43 dancers, 116 thespians, 63 school presidents, 127 newspaper or yearbook editors, 334 sports captains, 29-percent minorities. Charlie added thatjan and Farmer Mead attended last fall's Harvard debacle and he wondered if Farmer took his helmet and perhaps played? Charlie has sent me interesting news items on Oregon ex-Gov. Bob Straub, who unfortunately is an Alzheimer's victim. Back in the '6os and early '70s Straub and Tom McCall were gubernatorial opponents in races known in Oregon as the Bob and Tom show. The writer depicts Straub as the good guy of substance and McCall as a charismatic lightweight.

Some others heard from in my e-mail search: Marty Borofsky weighed in from Venice, Fla., where he and Marion moved five years ago, deserting Claremont, N.H., winters. They keep busy volunteering, teaching, swimming and bridging as well as attending plays, concerts, etc. A few ailments but happy and strong supporters of the College. Bill Jones checked in from Cleveland that without a secretary it takes him five times longer to do things and adds the happy complaint he doesn't have enough time! Sound familiar? He recently started a new company to commercialize, he hopes, a new invention. John Jouett reports: "All's well in the great Northwest—Marj and I keep busy with theater, ballet and symphony in Seattle." They plan a family bash for the millennium—a cruise around Hawaii. BudHall chimed in with support for this effort to get an e-mail correspondence going. More e-mail reports next month. BillPorter, the Virginia squire, rang before heading for Florida winter digs seeking telephone numbers of several classmates. BobGray still has copies of the 50th Reunion book. Send $15 to him at P.O. Box 505, New London, NH 03257-0505 to get a copy and add to the Henry Eagle internship. The 2000 mini will be October 6-8, Yale game. Recent deaths to report: WilliamB. Davies, Stanley J. Levin and Frank W.Hartmann—who can forget the latter's rendition of "The Lord's Prayer" at reunion memorial sevices? Finally, Marge Stockwell lost her cancer battle. Our condolences to the four families. Stay well.
