The opportunities in the community surrounding Dartmouth are many; one of them is Ilead, offering courses for adults. Rip enjoyed "Who Wrote the Bible," and I felt quite decadent going to "Western Movies" at 9 a.m. once a week. However, it was a wonderful experience seeing High Noon, Shane, Broken Arrow and others with like-minded people. The critique following was most interesting.

Am glad to report that both men's and women's hockey teams have been excellent—the women being Ivy League champions.

The Dartmouth Club of the Upper Valley now has a membership nearing 600. There is a social meeting at the Top of the Hop monthly with speakers and a seminar in the winter. Most of these are interesting and well attended.

"At the 1888 Commencement two graduates gave a Disputation on 'Should the Surplus be Reduced by Tariff Revision?' Where! Oh where is the Surplus now? Our country has a debt of $45 billion in its place and a Jackass President and Congress pushing it higher." This was written by Dr. WW. Lougee, class of 1888, in his memoirs in 1939.

We have learned that the widow of Bob Ramage has died, and we extend our sympathy to her family.

From Rip:

"Happy Birthday's no longer a reason for merriment.

After 90 our lives are at best an experiment.

The one thing about it that pleases me best

Is that somebody else has to take all the tests."
