For the last five years the voice you have heard in this column has been Ted Jennings. We owe him many thanks for his reporting skills and will be hearing from him again as head agent. Now it is time for a new voice, so I will step into Ted's shoes as your new class secretary.

First a request. This is your column. It is about you—the class of '57—and will be as interesting as the information I get from you. Please send me news about your self and class-mates you read about receiving awards or their achievements. We're young enough to have a lot of these, so I expect my mailbox to be full.

At an age when most people think about retiring, Bob Towbin made an unexpected career move after September 11. Bob has been a partnerof Unterberg Towbin for most of his career as a prominent New York investment banker. Bobs an unusual guy, having spent two years in Moscow running the Russian-American Enterprise Fund. Last fall he received a call from Warren Stephens, who runs an investment bank in Little Rock, Arkansas. Mr. Stephens, an old acquaintance, sought advice on how to contribute to families of people who died in the World Trade Center attack. Bob called Carl McCall '58, who recommended the Twin Towers Fund set up by then-Mayor Rudolph Giuliani. The Stephens firm is one of the biggest investment banks in the South, but is little known in New York, Mr. Stephens said he was considering a presence in New York. Bob decided to join Stephens Inc. The firm will concentrate on a few sectors, including biotechnology and new energy sources, and will specialize in investing its own capital in private companies in these sectors.

Tom Keller came to Hanover from Minnesota, returned after graduation from law school and has practiced law in that state for more than 30 years, currently as a senior partner of Moss & Barnett in Minneapolis. Recently Children's Heartlink honored Tom by making him the first recipient of its Founders Award. Children's Heartlink, founded in 1969, is an international medical charity dedicated to the treatment and prevention of heart disease in needy children. Tom was chosen as the first recipient because of "his lifetime of meritorious, generous and compassionate service," including recruiting donors and serving as chairman of the board of directors.

U.S. Circuit judge Larry Silberman writes: "Senior status (quasi-retirement for federal judges) is wonderful. I have reduced my caseload to 25 percent but have doubled my teaching." Larry teaches both semesters at Georgetown Law Center, where he has been an adjunct professor of 15 years with short stints away at Harvard and NYU.

Here on Cape Cod, Mr. District Attorney Phil Rollins is completing his sixth and final term in office. Phil has chosen not to run for election again and has been widely recognized for his fairness and dedication to law enforcement.
