Congratulations to Chris Marston, who was elected vice chair of the board of the Library of Virginia, a 15-member board appointed by Virginia's governor, in June. As vice chair Chris will help determine the scope of the library's collection; establish policy concerning what books are to be kept, housed or exhibited by the state library; and promote education in the area of history and library and archival science in the commonwealth. Chris is currently also serving as director of the state of Ohio's Washington, D.C., office.
Another '96 making the news is Craig Thomas. Craig has had an active sports reporting career since graduating college. He has worked as a sports producer for Fox News, an anchor, reporter and play-by-play announcer for Cablevision Sports, and an anchor and sports reporter for New Jerseys Channel 10 News. Craig is currently a member of the Syracuse Channel 5 Sports Team and recently participated in a Syracuse Sky Chiefs' live radio broadcast.
Also, kudos to Devyani Sharma, whose animation project, Night, was included in a special screening at Japans Hiroshima Animation Festival. Devyani is currently a lecturer in the department of English language and literature at King's College, London, specializing in sociolinguistics and South Asian linguistics.
Eliza Barry Riker wrote in to let us know that if you happen to be in Bermuda, look her up! She and her husband, Andrew Riker '97, moved to Bermuda in August when Andrew accepted an investment advisor and reporting position with Atlantic Philanthropies, a $4 billion charitable endowment fund. Eliza is working at ACE Bermuda, part of the global group of ACE insurance companies, as a legal counsel specializing in professional liability claims. She mentioned they were very excited about the move, as Andrew is originally from Bermuda and his family is based there.
Rebecca Gorman also wrote in that after spending the summer working at Glimmerglass Opera in Cooperstown, New York, she returned to Denver to begin a teaching career. Rebecca is currently professor of creative writing at Denver Metropolitan State College.
And Albrecht Enders wrote in from Cologne, Germany. Albrecht and his wife, Kimberly (Hicks), are quite busy with their two kids, 2-year-old Megan and 3-month-old Julia. Albrecht is also busy working for Boston Consulting Groups Cologne office. In July he published his first book together with a professor from Paris, Strategiesfor E-business.
