As I write this we are approaching the Christmas season even though this will not appear for more than 60 days. Our next special event will be our 65th reunion in October of 2004. As previously reported, the College moved this function from June to October to escape the crowds and improve access to the Inn. I fully concur with this thinking but it also gives us more months than usual without any class activities.
I expect and hope that the always active Bob Alpert and John Finocan are planning the Florida mini for some time during the winter season. I have been privileged to attend but as my trip south is a short one it all depends on the time set. For anyone in or near Florida I strongly recommend attending as it is well attended and much fun. Forget distance! Our President Hanna drives across the state to make his presence known.
Bud Blunt' wife, Norma, a former Newton High beauty has moved to the West Coast and I will miss her. Bob Acorn also from Newton, Massachusetts, reports gracious living and excellent golf in Fort Myers, where he and his wife have been for 20 years.
We suffered the loss of George Neilley in October, and notices only served to tell us what a full and active life he led. Dick Jackson continues to amaze me. I received a note from Frank Perry, class of 1979, recounting his many hours of working with him on many interests in Vero Beach. An unusual letter from Charles Obermeyer recounting his strong feelings for the College and our class, even though he only spent one year in Hanover. I sent this to Peter for his possible use. Colin Holman writes from Mercer Island, Washington, about his years and wishing he was closer for the upcoming reunion.
Fred Upton was the recipient of the Donald Defresne Award for "outstanding professionalism" by the New Hampshire Bar Association on June 27,2003. We continue to produce men of accomplishment.
