If everything went according to plan, by the time you read this I should be comfortably settled in my new quarters at Ocean View, a retirement community in Falmouth, Maine. It's less than 10 miles from my condominium in Yarmouth so I will be able to keep my same doctors, dentist, etc., which is a real plus. I will be in the independent living section, with assisted-living available in the future if needed. There is always a lot going on at Ocean View, so I'm really looking forward to the move. My new address is at the end of the column, so please send me word of what's new in your life, or word of other classmates.
A call from Bill Niss provided some information about Bill Crangle and his wife, Doris. They are doing well and enjoying life at Wake Robin in Shelburne, Vermont. One of their activities these days is snowshoeing—weather permitting! Bill—Crangle, that is—read a book about Trujillo by Mario Vargas Llosa. It is a work of fiction, but is filled with references to real people, and Bill was pleased to find that among them was Hank Dearborn. Hank was counselor of embassy, Ciudad Trujillo, Dominican Republic, 1959-1961, which must have been a very interesting assignment.
Just talked with Sub Harris in Nashua, who reminded me that he had visited Fort Worth for a week at Christmas time, and his daughter and her husband came down from Omaha to join him. Sub had lived in Fort Worth and Houston for many years, so it was a return to old haunts for him.
That's it for now. Send news!
