I trust that you are aware of Gil Tanis' death last January. He was a key member of our class and will truly be missed. Bob Reeve, a very close friend of Gil's, wrote a note to me regarding his passing and it is, as such, that I pass it on to all of you.

"I heard of Gil Tanis' death; the class of 1938 and Dartmouth have lost one of its greatest supporters. He really dedicated 40 years of his life to a cause that he felt was the greatest institution in the country. He served under five different College presidents. During the past five years I worked closely with him to make the class of 1938 a 'winner'—nothing was too much work for him and our alumni giving fund. He achieved his goal at our 50th reunion raising $1,138,000 and 38/100, a record that stood for several years. He will be missed as a true friend to many of us."

A news release from Charlie Hitchcock tells of a 'remembrance service' for Ev Wood held in Hanover Inn's Haywood Lounge. "Ev 'Woodie' Wood's life would fill a book or two," he writes. More will follow in the next issue of this magazine.

And now, please give the following serious thought. How many of you would be willing to serve the class in one of the following offices: president, treasurer, secretary, reunion chairman, head agent and bequest chairmanand/or would you be willing to serve on a committee to recommend classmates?
