In pouring rain Sunday-June 10, parents, relatives and friends at 7 a.m. started taking their seats for Dartmouth's graduation ceremony. The Green was a sea of umbrellas and all types of rain gear. The ceremony was as impressive as ever, and when "Say Hey" Willie Mays' honorary citation was being read, the audience broke into applause at the mention of each accomplishment throughout his career.
Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson '68, also an honorary degree recipient, was the Commencement speaker, with much wisdom and advice to share with the graduates. As the students were receiving their degrees the rain stopped and the afternoon turned sunny.
Being reunion time for many classes, Hanover was a beehive of activities. The University Chorus of the Upper Valley put on their usual fine performance in Spaulding, with a mixture of serious, fun, patriotic and Dartmouth songs. Former Glee Club members are invited to the stage for singing of the college songs.
